Costco has the Stainless Steel (SMH8165ST) for $215 in-store, but you can achieve the same with sears.ca using their on-line $10 off coupon. This deal started on Boxing day.
Got mine through sears.ca, still sitting in a box in my living room
Review: http://products.howstuffworks.com/sa...mbo-review.htm
Edit: The Samsung SMH-9187 is the top-rated over-the-range microwave by Consumer Reports. Did not see anyone selling that model here in Canada at a reasonable price, but if you have time you can order it on sears.com and have it shipped to a US store for pick-up, earn significant Bing cashback, etc. etc.

Samsung 1.6 Over the Range Microwave
Hi guys,
Stumbled on this deal last night. Basically you save 50% but only until January 10th.
They have black and white models on sale for the same price of $175 and stainless steel models on sale for $225. You can have the items shipped to your local Sears outlet for only $3 extra.
Review are hard to come by (the one on Sears is overly negative). These models do feature a 10 year warranty on the magnetron.

Might be possible to PM at Futureshop if you can find one in store, none available online....
http://www.futureshop.ca/catalog/pro...gon=&langid=EN
$350 - $215 = $135 X 10% = $13.50 off
So FS price with PM should be $201.50 if you can find it instore.

I purchased a new home a year ago October and loaded up on Samsung range, fridge, dishwasher and 1.8 OTR microwave all in stainless. The package lookes outstanding, but I kinda figured that you get a lotta flash with the recent appliance designs, and probably not a lot of reliability.
The only issue I have had to date is with the OTR microwave. I have the 1.8 size samsung, which isn't the exact model on sale at Sears, but is carried by sears. I think I paid maybe $299 for it. About a month after the warranty expired, it started cutting out on various cycles, and will sometimes run by itself after you press stop. From what I've read, OTR microwave electronics are troublesome due to the steam they injest as you are cooking.
Its still usable, but I'd probably replace it with another brand if I was doing it again. The rest of the package is fine, so at least I'm having trouble with the least expensive component. Then again, at $200, not a lotta risk.

This maybe a dumb question, but are there any issues using this these type of over the range microwaves if you don't install them over a stove as their designed? Can you just rest them on a counter top?
Looking to buy a new microwave. The Panasonic Inverter technology microwaves are popular, but I've read a lot horror stories of them only lasting a year or two. Looking to buy a good quality, long lasting microwave, for a good price.Last edited by Kujo; Jan 8th, 2010 at 10:30 AM.

I honestly know nothing about Microwaves - but this one caught my eye yesterday in the Future Shop flyer.

I have a feeling the OP's microwave is the one that is supposed to be installed at my house tomorrow and I would much rather have a on the counter one, so I have been looking today. The Samsung one goes look nicer then that one I linked though... If anyone knows of any other deals this week, please let me know!

Yeah, I've been eyeing that one, but the quality is questionable based on the reviews. I have to buy a microwave today.
This place cells Panasonic Inverter microwaves for cheap, but I'm weary to buy as I stated above.

I'm also thinking about this GE one at Canadian Tire.

Called sears
Thanks OP for a good lead, I called Sears and apparently they are on backorder, you can still order them but they won't be available until February since they are currently sold out of their stock. Did anybody buy this unit, any comments?
