FM works without any problems for me and does not turn on BT. Can't say that I've experienced white noise either but then again I don't use the FM Radio that often.
Thank you. I flashed to speedblur last night and really liked it a lot, but I couldn't find FM Radio. Where is it? So I flashed back to ICS2 and installed go launcher.

When your're in contacts just hold down the menu key the keyboard will pop up, just start typing and it should bring you to the contact. Hope this helps!!

Thanks! I flashed to MythICS and the search field is there. I'm back to Speedblur and using your suggestion. Does the trick.

I believe the A2SDGUI moves applications from memory to SD card to offload memory resources. Do you have the SD card installed? You probably need an SD card with enough free space and fast enough (class 10 maybe). The sd-ext creates ext4 partition on the sd card to move the apps. I am not sure what happens if you swap the memory card after this is done. Watch the xda thread, or post if you have issues. I have not done any flashing on my ace yet, just doing some reading. Still hoping to find a flashable stock rom before starting. I have flashed my Gio, I have a copy of the stock Bell rom just in case. The Ace was my backup in case i brick my Gio.

I have a gio too. Wonder if you have flashed cm7 for our canadian gio? Also, any chance you can point me to the stock bell rom? Thanks

My bad FMRadio is not included in speedblur. I tried adding it manualy via "adb instal"l but it's missing a shared library and won't install. I'll post if I find a fix.

i am using darkshado's arpegiomod specific to GT-S5660M http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthr ... ?t=1263025. He also created a rooted bell stock rom, there is a link from this page.

I found the stock rom posted in sampro.pl http://hotfile.com/dl/137128575/3402173 ... 3.rar.html

Thanks for all the great info in this thread. Just from my experience, I had 4 SOD in a span of 2 days using Coderom. It happened mostly after I disconnect the phone from my car bluetooth. I've flashed to TheMyth ICS lite right now and so far so good, I'll have to try the BT in the car and see if the SOD happens in this ROM as well.

EDIT: Guide to return to stock : samsung-galaxy-ace-technical-thread-spl ... st13933426

I can't even open those files to see whats inside, I was able to extract the tar in cygwin, but the other files won't open, so I can't compare them or even check to see if the bootanimation is from koodo.

Off topic : Here's the source code for the sg5830d and its kernel : https://opensource.samsung.com (Go in mobile, mobile phones)

Got the System.rfs open with MagicISO , still not luck with the img files.

ro.product.board=GT-S5830D
ro.product.cpu.abi=armeabi
ro.product.manufacturer=samsung
ro.product.locale.language=en
ro.product.locale.region=CA

I can't open the qmg animation files, but everything looks like it should be, gps.conf is telus, all the stock apps are there ( 73.5mb vs 73.7 of a cwm backup ),
build.prop is the same. It's legit.

The ace does not use bootanimiation.zip, it uses qmg files. Not sure how to query that. Not sure if the telus version has a telus boot animation or standard samsung one. That would be the only difference between telus and kodoo, am asumming that the telus phone is also GT-S5830D

Use Gingerbread 2.3.6 and use the stock WIFI firmware use ODIN to flash it. I am using it for few weeks now and stable IMO. Not as hard as you guys think.

I was right, TLS is Telus, so that roms is a stock telus rom.

Koodo is KDO, you would need to add the CSC folder to /system/csc to go back to stock.

Here it is, drop it in /system/

http://www.multiupload.com/3CX4DQVIUR

Replace the wallpaper and animations also from my other post and you are back to stock.

Edit: Looking at the database file, we need to media files too, so drop this in /system too : http://www.multiupload.com/KJUA9F9T2N , this contains the boot animations from my other post too.

http://www.multiupload.com/7RBB2M9Q2R - wallpaper folder from other post

Edit: Last one, poweron.ogg , goes in system/etc ( its the thing that says Koodo when you power on ) http://www.multiupload.com/PXBS8ZPN2A

All these problems you guys are talking about dont happen to me at all with coderom and my enthusiasm and recommendation for coderom still stands.

are you experiencing SOD when connected to wifi then go out of range?
No screen of death ever....my battery has been going on for 2 days straight now and still 1/4 battery left. No screen lag.
~3 hours of combined phone calls, data turned off. wifi turned on all the time. couple of messages. thats huge!!

yeah asdgui moves applications to the memory card to save on the bytes. You dont really need to partition but I created a 512 mb ext4 partition on my sd card and 32 mb for swap and rest as fat32 for storage.

I love this rom but where I work I have way too many dead zones for wifi. I got the Sleep Of Death six times yesterday. I only had SOD when using coderom, which really sucks because I really liked that rom.

Never happened to me at and this is very suprising. LIke what happens? does the screen just turn off? are you sure you installed it properly? I only gave the most essential instructions...you had to wipe everything using cwm before installing via odin. browse all the options in cwm and see for yourself what options are available to get a clean install.

also, I still get the qualcom boot screen and not the robot screen even after doing all the setup and tweaks so im lost on what you guys are talking about there. I haven't rebooted my phone many times from the past week.

I also don't have any screen wake up lag and reading from the posts here :

either a) people haven't even tried it.
b) they haven't installed it properly.

the rom im using is very much stock with just a few things removed like some samsung apps. But it also has a lot of other performance and battery saving tweaks that are really great in my opinion.
or maybe I guess i got lucky with everything working properly and its all just magic...
my claim still stands. I might make a very detailed guide on what exactly i did soon if there is enough interest and i have some time...
