Buying outright would be the best idea. So you can use It with whatever plan you want.
ALL smartphones nowadays most likely require a contract.

Yeah I am looking to buy outright, but looking for a decent price. Best is at Virgin for 399.

Less than $275 from Virgin if you get it on tab from FS/BB with a 20 dollar plan and then change it to prepaid.

So it will be $99 for the phone +$150 tab + $13 tax + about $5 or less for the plan (if you switch the $20 plan right away to prepaid and pay the tab) = $267

You can, Doesn't work 100%, Chance of bricking the phone. Also If you lose the root I think you lose the unlock.
