[Zellers] Samsung GIO $79.99 - FS

For those of you who F-d up your phone following S.Chan's instructions to unlock your Galaxy GIO from the previous sale, here's your second chance. Sale starts Friday for $79.99.

http://www.futureshop.ca/en-CA/product/ ... 07f966en02

Not as sweet as the $69.99 sale a few weeks ago at Zellers, but $79.99 you can't really go wrong.

$80 for an 800Mhz Android 2.3.4 phone that runs great. It seems like this is gonna be a frequent deal now, but it's hot just because it's so cheap for a device that can do so much.

This phone is wicked, especially once unlocked. I've unlocked 3 for the wife and my 2 nieces. My wife said she hated touchscreen smartphones... she's in love with this one. These were flying of the shelves at $69.99 @ Zellers a few weeks ago (Zellers has since bumped up the price to $149).

yup, follow the instructions if you potentially want a $80 paperweight...

i'd suggest using fast gsm and pay the $10-20 for the unlock...

why would the procedure which doesn't modify anything on the phone unlike the stl5 route which chan posted screw up ( i used chan's procedure and things worked fine though). All this does is look into the hex file for the valid code which is what those unlocking websites do. All you have to do is root the phone first and look into the hex file. Do this or pay 10 -20 bucks to get the code.

When they will be able to provide the unlock code just by knowing the IMEI that method will be 100% safe.
Otherwise....use fast gsm and you might have a $90-$100 paperweight...
As long as both methods are involving data transfer between your phone and the computer the risks are almost the same.

Why have you posted that without knowing anything about it ? Everybody that followed this method succeeded....or at least, didn't brick the phone...

I bought this one by the Zellers sale and its great, I would like someone to give a comparison between this one and the LG Optimus Quantum (at sale in Wal-Mart in another popular thread)

Haha this phone is IDENTICAL to the Galaxy S Apollo, which I have from Europe.

I won't lie to you, it's an awesome device. I HIGHLY recommend rooting, and installing a custom rom. With data usage, and overclocked at 1300mHz, I am getting 2 full days of battery life. It is really impressive.

you have to make sure that the Rogers APN settings are correct in the phone.
