I'm thinking about buying this card, but if it's like that, I might avoid it![]()

Sapphire Radeon 4830 Fan Speed
To the people that have this card...how noisy is this supposed to be? I'm running a core i7 with a stock cooler and 1x 120mm fan and 1x 140mm fan and this card's fan is like twice as loud as everything in my case. I tried manually adjusting the fan speed in CCC but that doesn't do anything...lowest setting still sounds the same but it can get even louder on a higher setting.
It's not like it's overheating either...running at 33C idling so i have no idea what's with the excessive fan noise. Maybe the fan noise is normal, as I have never heard a vga card with a fan on it before lol._______________
If it's a broken part replace it. If it's a broken arm then brace it. If it's a broken heart then face it.

On my XFX I can go into the Catalyst driver (8.12) "ATI Overdrive" screen and do a bunch of things with the fan speed. I assume other cards are the same.
The automated settings tend to keep it around 45-50C on my card, so maybe something is up with yours.

IRC you can edit the driver files somehow to alter fan control behavior. I'm a bit hazy on the details though.
You can also try RivaTuner and as a last resort, editing the card's BIOS.

Ok so I installed that...and when I go to that Fan tab, all it says is "No supported hardware found."
I'm thinking I should attempt for a refund..._______________
