SATA Vs ATA Hard Drive Installation

My laptop HD just got shot to hell. It currently is a ATA drive. I'm wondering if its worth upgrading to a SATA drive. I'm a little bit confused about the compatiblity of the two, if a get a new SATA drive will it work on my laptop? i.e. different connectors.. i'm currently using a Dell Lat D610

if its older, I doubt it....

there is no performance reason either....

its unlikely that your laptop will support both interfaces. they are not compatible.
