Satellite - Will signal strength affect how many channels i can get ?

Hi all,
Would like to know if weak signal strength and strong signal strenght will affect how many channels i can grab from that satellite ?

For example, right now is weak... and i'm only seeing 10 channels of total 100 channels.

Is it because of weak strength ?

Please advise.

THanks.

Check what your strength is on each transponder.
But yes, if your dish isn't getting a decent signal, only the strong transponders will have channels. There's a minimum strength needed to maintain a decent data stream.

different channels are on different transponders of the satellite. If you signal strength is not great enough, you might not be able to recieve the channels on the weaker transponders

Check channels and transponders here: http://www.lyngsat.com/america.html (Bell uses Nimiq 1 and 4 which is 82W and 91W)

or click here:

That's the best part of digital. If it isn't a zero or one, it is garbage

If you are getting 65% or higher on all transponders, you will get every channel you are entitled to.
