Very tempting to get one. How does this compare with Freezer 7 Pro in terms of overclocking?

Performance-wise, this is better than the Freezer Pro as far as overclocking goes. Reviews also seem to indicate it is quieter as well.
Best part is that I bought this as a Suprise Deal with NCIX at the beginning of October for the same price (before rebate), and the rebate form DOES NOT specify where you bought it from. So with any luck, this rebate is open to anyone who bought a Scythe air-cooler this month!
Just a friendly note - this thing is huge (tall AND wide), so those with small cases may prefer something with a smaller form-factor. Otherwise, I recommend.
I have it on an Intel 775 chipset, but it should be usable for virtually all current chipsets. I would check the website to confirm this though.

I'm still sceptical about the rebate, as it is not posted on the Infonec site, and the only retailer that has that particular rebate form posted is CanadaComputers.
http://www.canadacomputers.com/rebat...the_Rebate.pdf
From the terms on the rebates: Not every reseller is a participant on our Special Rebate Program.
Can anyone actually confirm if Infonec is a participant or not. If they are not a participant, then you will lose out on the rebate.
BTW, Infonec doesn't currently show any stock on hand either (says to call store).
I have a BNIB for sale on the BST pricematched to the $38.75 if anyone is interested in a local deal and doesn't want to try to claim the rebate.Last edited by cba123; Oct 26th, 2007 at 11:36 AM.

I bought this thing when it was $5 more, on an overnight sale (grrrr.....), but I've not installed it yet, as I believe I have to take my mobo out; got a D820 I believe. I assume it's very quiet with the fan ... can it be run without a fan, if I have no interest in overclocking, and kept on all day? I prefer ultra quiet operation as opposed to speed, but don't want my 3 HDs to cook anything inside the case. Guess I'll monitor their temps & see what happens.

This is Massive!
Hey Memacmur, what case do you have.
I have a Coolermaster CAC-t05 and I'm really wondering if this will fit. For those wondering this will work with the Intel 775, AMD 754/939/940/AM 2. As well as the Intel 478. Also how much trouble did you have installing this Memacmur? Any guides you know of to walk through installation.

Good to see price of HSF coming down. I would never buy a HSF for $50 or more.

Hi fellows. I squeezed the ninja in an Antec P182 case. The Ninja is 150mm tall. So you need a width of case of around 200 mm and no fans on the side panels. Looks like your case should be wide enough... You may want to measure to make sure there will be room before buying though.
I actually found installation to not be too hard, although I will tell you it was probably easier because I didn't have my motherboard in the case at the time. I think installing it with the motherboard in the case would be next to impossible. A little tricky getting fingers underneath the cooler, but managed it eventually. Not bad considering this was the first time I attempted such an operation. And yes, I found online help...

Gives a reasonably good idea. I didn't have to do the back-of-the-board part of the installation, and everything seems fine. I haven't actually checked my temperatures, but if everything is running I'm happy.

I bought one a while back and my first thought was, "How the heck am I going to fit this in my case??"
Also the clips to hold the fan to the heat sink are horrible. I never did figure out how to install them properly so I just left my heat sink as a passive cooler; 0dB. I don't overclock so super cooling isn't a real issue for me.
This is also a somewhat heavy item.
