You will not feel overpaid.
Electricians will treat you as subhuman.
Communication installers will treat you as subhuman.
Plumbers will laugh at you.
You will generally have to ask politely to borrow other trades' scissor lifts because your company will not rent one to plug in one wire.
You will have to ask electricians to bend pipe for you if you have to sleeve though a firewall or some other partition.

Yes, it is lighter and cleaner than plumbing.

What are you looking at? Residential stuff? That's stuff is pretty much peanuts. You run the wire, hook up the things, and program. Things are getting slightly more complicated, as automation is becoming a big hit, so you need to have some technical background with computers to make it all work together. The runs are still low voltage runs. Then that can branch off to running networking or computer controlled door access (NFC, coded door access etc) for businesses and corporations.

I think it a job that won't go obsolete for sure...everyone needs alarms, cameras, and networks.
