Self serve at Walmart

I just came back from Walmart and they replaced 6 employees with 8 self serve machines. Now theres a glut of unemployed low-skilled workers and tgeir only choice is to apply for EI.

Wait till the new minimum wage kicks in. I am sure that 90% will be self checkout.

And the government will be saddled with the EI bill.
Isn't it great to live in the 21st century where deleting history has become more important than making it.

Let's be honest here: The self checkouts are way better as a customer.

Yep, those 1% "job creators" will really care about the "minions" and create more jobs if you give them more tax breaks. When they perfect self-driving cars then taxi drivers and truck drivers will be next. After that, when Droids are perfected, all service jobs will be obsolete.

Since Wynne loves to buy votes so much that she would intervene in the free market and implement such ridiculous minimum wage laws, she should also implement some "minimum number of employees required based on xxx gross revenue" regulation.

How do you weigh vegetables and fruits at the self-serve counter? There are so many types of potatoes and apples.

I guess they will just have standard weight bags of these vegetables.

Walmart seems to be phasing out the need for a scale, replacing many things with pre packaged stuff.
I've noticed that even the red, orange and yellow peppers (sold separately) are pre packaged at a fixed price. (each)

Pharmacists, Architects, Engineers and many jobs in the medical field will be replaced by AI and automation just to name a few. Easy to look down on low waged workers and think that somehow you are in some way superior ... until the world gives you a reality check and you too are looking for some social assistance.
