Sending cell phone overseas

I looked up CanadaPost website and they listed a Cell Phone under products that cannot be mailed list...

Have you ever sent a cell phone or any other electronic overseas by mail? What service did you use?

Not to be nosey, but why are you sending a cellphone overseas? They probably won't be able to use it. And cellphones in most countries overseas are very cheap.

I've bought a phone sent from the US, that got delivered by Canada Post, no problems...

Where's this list?

For example here:
http://www.canadapost.ca/tools/PG/manua ... mail-e.asp

It doesn't say phones aren't allowed.

It's per country I believe if you go into International listings. Here's the list for Pakistan:

* Antiques
* Banknotes and other securities
* Bio Products
* Communistic Materials
* Drugs, Non-Prescription
* Eye glasses
* Ice, in any form
* Items offensive to Muslim culture
* Jewelry
* Knives
* Liquor
* Mineral Products
* Mobile phones
* Paints
* Passports
* Precious pens
* Satellite
* Satellite Parts
* Shipments from Israel
* Tobacco
* Toys
* Used Goods
* Used Mobile Phones
* Valuable items
* Viagra
* Vitamins, Herbs
* Watches.

and I am sending the phone back after buying it there and getting a new one, it's unlocked and it will work there.

So, UPS, any others?

If it's forbidden by the country, then it probably won't be acceptable regardless by the carrier you use to send it.

And I think you're going to find that the cost of sending it is going to way too expensive for it to be worth your while. You can take a look at Purolator or FedEx as well. I just did a quick quote and it came in over $100 which seems ridiculously expensive to me. Why don't you just wait until you go back or someone you know goes back?

Generally, "overseas" refers to any country except your own, not necessarily actually over a sea.

But I think most countries don't have a problem with sending phones.
