Seneca@York: You Got Questions, I (Might) Have Answers
I'm a 2-time graduate from Seneca@York, thought I'd make my cumulative "knowledge" available to anyone who wants it. I took CPD (Computer Programmer) and DTP (Digital Media Technical Production) from 2001-2004 (no semesters off), so we're clear.
I went from graduating both times with honours (made the President's List once, missed it by the TINIEST of margins another 2 times) to borderline unemployment for nearly a year; you won't find any politically correct or falsely optimistic BS here.
If you have any questions, I'll do my best to help you out. Hopefully graduates from other colleges/universities will run with this idea, and start similar Q&A threads to help anyone attending a post-grad course.
Resources:- Seneca's Website: You know Seneca has a website...right?
- Learn Mail: Your Seneca e-mail account. I'm always shocked at how long it takes people to realize they have one; don't be a fool!
- RateMyProfessors.ca: A somewhat flawed but usually accurate portrayal of teacher quality, or lack thereof.
- SparkNotes: Quick references guides for literature, huge help for general education classes.
- Toronto Public Library: You have no idea how often this wonderful institution has saved my ass. I particularly recommend the North York Central Library, as the Toronto Reference one doesn't allow you to check out (useful) books.
- Indigo: If you can't borrow it, buy it. Or if you're really pressed for cash, hang around on the freely provided seating and furtively scribble notes between passes by the store staff. That's pretty grimy, but you gotta do what you gotta do; some of you have probably seen me and my buddy busting down notes at the Eaton Centre location a few times!

Not knowing what you may have that qualifies for general education exceptions, it's best if you check the CTY syllabus.

You're screwed on parking, since construction is done; unless you have a relative/friend who works nearby and can use their slot, you'll either eat the parking cost or it's public transportation.
Orientation Day is a 30 minute tour, where you're given nothing and learn nothing. At least, it was like that for me.
Don't sweat it.
