Yes according to Shaw's site. It's the non PVR equivalent.

Ehhh.... last year's new years "surprise sale" was the DCX3400M PVR for $100, and gateway setups for under $300 (don't recall exactly)
This ain't a bad deal for new hardware, just not all that hot by comparison

It's my understanding that as of a month or so back the new guide was shipping on DCX3200-Ms, but they haven't yet pushed it to all the boxes in the field.
Might be worth it asking which the box is using before purchase.

What a scam. There is no reason why they can't push the HD Guide out as an update to existing customers with appropriate hardware.

Is it possible to add your own hard drive to the DCX3200-M to turn it into a PVR?

I've seen several statements from Shaw employees to the contrary, we'll have to see.

If they truly have written off the older hardware for essentially no reason, I'm not gonna be happy.
(I have a DCX3200M & DCX3400M both running old guide)

Last year the good deals were for New Years, with "surprise sale" booths at shopping centres & such.

I'm confused.

Future Shop & Best Buy has the DVR630 for $249. How does this model compare, outside of different HD size?

Followup to my own question...

If I'm reading this correctly, and that is within the bounds of possibilities, the 3510 is cable while the 630 be satellite. Yes? No? You're an idiot, Weasel?

Correct, the 3510 is a Shaw cable box, whereas the other one is for "Shaw Direct" (IIRC used to be StarChoice satellite?)

The new 3510 PVR is $348, not $248 on the Shaw site.
Have a nice day!

The 3510 HDPVR is indeed $248, however that price is at the Shaw retail store. I can confirm I saw this price at the store in Richmond Centre.
