For new customers Shaw pricing is good. The moment that I called Bell saying that I am out they immediately matched everything:
Basic TV with free upgrade to HD including free rent of HD PVR (own after 3 years) for $28/month (Basic package + HGTV + Food Channel). Prior to that I was paying $48 supplying my own paid for standard definition receiver.
Next thing on my list is to call Bell about phone or switch to Teksavvy phone line. The problem with Bell is keeping in mind to call again a year later, but since I do not have any contract will see there and then

Just talked to a rep who confirmed the same student deal as the previous few posters. Didn't mention the $6 off promo for getting all 3 services, though.

So my retention deal is about to end.
I have:
Basic Cable, Extreme Internet, Home Basic & Asia Unlimited
All for around $80 (I own my modem & PVRs - so no rentals)
Called in today for a retention type deal, spoke to the Loyalty department. No deals deals were offered to retain me as a customer; in fact I was told that they don't offer anymore retention deals, which made me wonder if Shaw really doesn't care about current customers...Also was told that they do not match with any competitors
In anycase she said I could switch to one of their current bundles, the closest one in price being:
Shaw Starter Bundle:
Basic Cable
High Speed 10
Internet Phone
Asia Calling Package
All for around $95.
Anyone able to get a real deal to stay with Shaw or am I stuck paying more for less?
If anyone can help me I would appreicate it. I really don't have much choice other than Telus but owning all the equipment plus hearing nothing but negatives about Telus I am not about to switch.
thanks in advanceLast edited by gwoo_ca; Sep 21st, 2012 at 04:59 PM.

My sept shaw bill says that starting November 1st my bill will go up by $5. In may my hdplus package went up $5 an in April the phone went up $5.00. So in less than a year it's gone up $15 I keep cutting stuff to keep my bill down but now it's pretty much bare bones. Will be switching to telus as soon as they mail out another offer (I usually get a couple a month).
