[Shaw] Shaw 150 $60 no contract 12 months

Just called shaw and got Internet 150 as a new customer for $60 a month for 1 year. No contract! The promo just launched and it's not through retention

There's a $100 installation fee, but it's waived if you pickup the router. If you can't get it working yourself, the guy said a tech will make a free service call. I believe this is for new customers only.

Mod Reminder: Do not use this thread to ask Shaw reps to pm you with a deal, this is not allowed in Hot Deals.

Pickup the router? Can I use my own modem?

1TB limit though... it's pretty high but I don't like the idea of having a monthly limit.

Does the price increase after 12 months? If so, and you don't mind a contract the 2 year contract they were offering works out to be roughly the same cost which might be better if you want that price for 24 months.

They aren't too strict about it, but if you go over significantly and consistently they will switch you to the unlimited Plus option at extra cost.

Ah not a hard limit? That's not bad at all then.

As a side, anyone else feel like their upload is throttled on bittorrent with Shaw?

Costs more than the student plan, but you get 4 months more.

I don't think they do. Use a VPN.

Perhaps. I was quoted $80 a month on a 2 year contract (existing customer). That's a fair bit better than the $93 a month for Internet 50 I'm paying now without contract.

Used shaw for several years, just awesome service!

Their plans have become expensive now, but considering the other alternative in Calgary (Telus) it's the better choice. Especially for 100mbps+ speeds.

I'm already on the 150 and I consistently get 160+mbps, and yeah their data caps are very generous. There are many other companies that offer "unlimited" but in reality throttle you, which sucks!

overall, I would vouch for shaw because I do like their service =)

BTW! Most ISP will throttle you when you torrent. VPN is the way to go!

Question - I live in a Rogers area. Can I still get Shaw? I.e. do I have to have Shaw cable physically connected in order to subscribe to their service?
