Just picked up a pair of AE Strands at BB, but after closer inspection I'm wondering if I should return them or exchange them for a similar model without what appears to be a defect. Granted, I have a lot to learn about leather and so I am unaware if this sort of thing is normal and not warranting a trip back to BB.

There's a stripe-y sort of finish to the leather that looks like it has been stretched or something.

Notice that the left shoe appears to be normal and without the stripe-like finish of the right shoe.

What do you guys think? Return or not?
If you bought that for full price at the BB store I would take it back. I believe you could polish it into a more uniformed look but if its not too much of a hassle for you why not take them back. I own a pair of BB strands seconds and they were the same colour throughout. Also, this is one of my favourite shoes in my rotation.

Thanks for writing.

I got them for 30 pct off due to the store wide sale at BB. I am thinking they won't even have another pair in my size (13D) and I'm not looking forward to waiting for them to order another pair in.

Hmm.

I'm surprised they even have anything bigger than size 12.

I'm a vegetarian, haha.

I've had a hard time since I was a child finding shoes that fit me properly. I've been a size 13 since I was 12. :/

Decided to keep them. Wearing them now and enjoying them and the matching AE belt I got there.

I need a suede protector. Any good ones? Affordable please.

Edit, just found a tana spray that protects seude and nubuck. Will this be good enough?

Double edit - I used the spray, seems fine
