Not sure why you'd think they are not as sleek... Strand & Park Ave both are made on the same last as Kenilworth so all their shapes are identical. The Strand is the second most popular AE shoe after Park Ave.

I wouldn't get the Strand in black, it's a waste of a beautiful shoe.

The Kenilworth is def not identical to the strand in terms of sleek. Anyways I returned the strands as they dont look as good in Black as they do in walnut or brown. I exchanged them for the fifth avenue's in black. Shined them up a bit, will post pictures later on.

PS, my right side is smaller and therefore it's slipping just a touch. The BB sales guy recommended either a insole or a heel thingy (I forgot the name)

This should be my biggest purchase of the year, now I can rotate between black and brown dress shoes.

Better choice... I don't like the strands. I'd rather have any of the wingtip designs. I originally purchased fifth aves but ended up exchanging them for park aves and don't regret it. I don't like the perforations much. I like a simple clean look. I'll be grabbing another pair of park aves soon... prob in dark brown.

why black?
Black matches with most of your wardrobe? Black is a classic color for a shoe? I already have brown shoes and needed a good pair of black shoes.

If these are your "nice shoes" I'd go for the walnut... black would be my last choice - pretty boring just like black suits.

To each his own. I like them and that's all that matters right? I agree black is boring but hey sometimes classics are.

Even though brown shoes tend to look better, I think a black pair is needed. I was a little stand offish with wearing black shoes, but I really like my black LWB. On top of that u can wear black shoes with not just suits. I wear my black shoes with a variety of khakies.

Not crazy about Carmina... that's Crockett & Jones money and labour is cheap in Spain...
Strange, I have replaced all but 1 pair of my C&J with carmina. They are on par to better to C&J handg grade as far as quality goes and the lasts are a bit sleeker and more modern.

Allen Edmonds has a Seconds sale again. This time it's for Memorial Day. Everything is supposed to be at least 15% off, their Brooks Brothers and Ralph Lauren models are all down to $159 which is pretty good.
I posted a thread about it in Hot Deals, but I figured I'd let everyone that frequents this thread know about it too in case they don't check there.

when you become more fashionable and read all fashion threads, they're trying to tell us that black is meant for funerals and for the groom in a wedding. even now-a-days, black isnt worn in a wedding but rather deep navy blue.

LOL. I have the corporate card. Not saying you're wrong but just curious as to why you know that soon in advance when the BB SA and other SA in the store don't even know of this sale.
