Shoes
Where can I take my child to have his feet measured and get him some shoes.
I am from the UK and there we had "specialist" shops for babies such as Mothercare and Clarks, however in Toronto and GTA all I have seen is Sears and The Bay and the people working there are hardly "specialists" in footwear.
Is there any baby focussed shoe shops?

There are, but depends on where you are residing though.
But Stride Rite has a measure tool on their web site where you can print out and do the measurement at home.

There are a couple of chains that cater to little ones' feet.
Panda
Kiddie Kobbler
There is a store at Sherway, that specialized as well, it's near the Battery store accross from European Jewelers...the name eludes me.

Just a word of caution on those specialty shoe stores for kids. Look over or talk with them about their policy for returns. I bought a pair of shoes for my child and they would not take them back because of faulty workmanship. One shoe was a tighter fit then the other; and was digging into his upper foot. They were not cheap either. I paid $80.00 for them and they would not consider a return or an exchange.

I used to work at Kiddie Kobbler...and I would suggest going when the manager is in. These stores tend to hire part-timers with no experience other than knowing how to measure the foot.
The manager will have experience, measure the foot and let you know what brand and shoe is best for your child's shape.
Stride-rite is good to go with for a first walker so is Minibel. If you are looking for running shoes...stick to New Balance.
