I will be traveling in October for a duration of three weeks and was wondering what type/brand or specific shoes I should be looking at.
If it matters, I do have relatively flat feet but I do own orthotics.
My friend suggested air max 95. I was also looking online (footlocker) and heard asics are great in general, and nike lunar glide +3 got some pretty good reviews too.

Shoes or sneakers?
I have several pairs of Ecco shoes that are light and flexible. They are great traveling and walking shoes. I also have some Mephisto shoes, again, light, flexible and comfortable.
Whatever you decide, a real shoe or a running shoe, make sure you have at least 2 pairs. In case they get wet and/or too sweaty. You should change shoes every day to let them dry out and relax from the day before._______________
I have never failed...I just found 1000 new ways that didn't work....

Whatever you wear normally - don't get a new pair of shoes, you might end up with unexpected blisters.
If you do buy a pair of shoes, make sure you have them well worn in before the trip.
I like Clarks xtr lite series, they're fine with jeans/shorts and are passable for dinner too.Last edited by coolspot; Aug 8th, 2012 at 10:51 AM.

Love my air max 95's. Great shoes. They take next to no break in time whatsoever.

I made the mistake of wearing my converse while traveling for 2 months. Get nike with those awesome cushioning or any similar shoes.

I have flat feet as well and stylish shoes are not really a good idea while traveling. I suggest you buy any sort of name brand running shoes...try a few out in the store, walk around and see what feels most comfortable.
I've owned Air Max 95s in the past and while they are stylish, classics, and fairly comfortable, there are more comfortable Nike's out there with better technology. Keep in mind AM 95's have 17-year-old shoe technology in them while 'newer' shoes are more comfortable and more often lighter than the clunky AM 95s.

Whatever you get start breaking them in soon, the last thing you want is to buy a new pair which you realize kill your feet once you are on vacation

I wear my new balance minimus trail shoes, they double as both hiking and every day use, as well as water shoes for things like white water rafting - they dry fast

normally I travel with a good pair of runners preferably something with gel support. I recently purchase a pair of north face shoes that are good for walking, hiking and even on the desert since I'll be going in the middle east.
I used to wear flat shoes when traveling for fashion reasons and I realized after a few trips of how bad of an idea that really was
