I have not really taken advantage of this program and have a Points Balance of 167,951 . Should I be using these before the merge? What is the best way to use them? Was going in today to take advantage of the gift card deal. If I buy 2 - 100 Shoppers , 2 - 100 petrocan and 2-100 amazon, does that have to be done with 3 seaparate Transactions to get the 24,000 points. I guess I would also get 2000 points for the shoppers card, so a total of 26,000 points?

I would keep them until after the merger. They will be worth a bot more than they are as Shoppers points, plus unlike now, you will be able to redeem all of them in one transaction instead of only 95,000.

so when we have the points worth 170 or 190 accumulated after the switch purchase on 20x days, how do we redeem them. i mean will they redeem in the form of cash if i want , since I am not a regular SDM customer, i dont shop often there. Maybe a real dumb question but I would appreciate if someone can guide me on this one. Thanks in advance.

Am I eligible to get the 8000 points?
Can I buy $200SDM GC and use it for Esso GC for the 8000 points
The term & condition says 'Bonus points will not be issued for transactions in which a gift card or a financial card is used as tender to pay for additional gift or financial cards. '.

If I interpret the rule correctly, then you won't get the bonus 8000 pts because you use the SDM gift cards to buy additional gift cards(Esso GC). You will only get the 2000 pts on the SDM gift cards purchase. Hopefully someone can confirm that was not the case when the sale was on last time(i.e. you received both the 2000 pts on the SDM gift cards and the bonus 8000 pts for a total 10000 pts for each $200 purchase).

When the terms and conditions mention financial cards are they talking about credit cards or the prepaid credit cards. Just wondering if you have to use cash to pay for these?

If there is a bonus redemption event and if you're interested in buying smaller ticket items (less than $170), then spend it during the redemption event.

However, if you're interested in a single, large ticket item (greater than $170) or if the items you want are only available at other PC retailers, then definitely wait until the merger.
When given enough time, all threads on RFD can and will go off on a tangent.

No. They redeem them towards a purchase. They will not give you cash.

Yes last time if you bought $200 in SDM, you got 2000 + 8000 bonus.

By financial cards, they mean prepaid financial Gift card.

you got 2000 + 8000 points just for buying SDM cards?(i.e you didn't buy other cards like ESSO using the SDM cards)?

Yes last year I did, and should get the bonus 8000 next week.

I do use SDM gift cards to buy other gift cards after the promo.

NOTE: buy a non-gift card item (like a pack of gum) with the purchase to allow the system to take the GC as tender. If the rep says you can’t, just kindly ask them to try it.

I bought 6 SDM $100 gift cards in one transaction using credit card. I got 6000 SDM points on my receipt. Then I bought in 3 transactions of 2 $100 Petro Can gift cards in each transaction for a total of $600 using the 6 $100 SDM gift cards I just bought. Do you think I will get 24000 bonus SDM points on Nov. 17 or just 8000 pts? If the The term & condition says 'Bonus points will not be issued for transactions in which a gift card or a financial card is used as tender to pay for additional gift or financial cards. ', I don't think I will get the bonus pts for buying the Petro can gift cards because I bought them using gift cards. I should have done like you did by buying the 6 $100 SDM cards in 3 transactions of 2 cards each transaction so I will get the 6000 base points on SDM cards and the 3 x 8000 bonus pts. I thought the bonus pts are only good for non SDM gift cards. That is why I bought the 6 SDM cards in one transaction & used the SDM cards to buy the Petro Can cards in 3 transactions.

I have a question. Do you always receive Optimum points when you purchase a SDM gift card only? I know that 3rd part GC's you do not, but with this promotion, one would receive 1000 points per $100 card. Is this always the case with SDM cards?

Example: tomorrow is 20x points, so if I were to buy a SDM card would I receive 500 points or would it be 5000 points on a $50 SDM GC?

Thanks.
It is worth a try. You will definitely get 500 Optimum points for your $50 purchase, but I doubt you will get the bonus (effectively 19 times the 500). I saw somewhere else that next week's bonus for buying SDM card is a bag of Hershey chocolates. Personally I would take the 9500 bonus points.
