Mine has a 999 dollars label on the front so maybe 900 was a sale price

I concur, not only will you always think in the back of your mind it was cheaper less than a week ago, the difference is basically an extra 8gb of RAM.

When I was researching SSDs for this laptop, I saw several threads where people indicated that SATA SSDs didn't work - it has to be NVMe. I can't confirm from first-hand experience, but I bought an NVMe.

This laptop has two drive slots: a 2.5" drive bay that only supports the SATA standard, and an m.2 slot that only supports the PCIe standard. The drives that are incompatible are m.2 format drives that use the SATA standard.

Tldr;
2.5" SATA works (i.e. 860 evo sata)
m.2 PCIe NVMe works i.e. 970 pro m.2)
m.2 SATA does not work (i.e. 850 evo m.2)

As a temporary measure until my 860 evo gets here I threw in an Intel 330 180gb, manufactured early 2012... Random 4k is still 52 times faster than the stock HDD, and the drive is probably only worth $30 at this point.
