The alum block is $10 online, 2 to 3 times what it should cost. Any Indian grocery store should have them. This is a decent shave kit for the average (cheap) RFDer..don't get carried away with all that overpriced Fendrihan, ItalianBarber crap..you don't need it. Also, truthfully, you don't even need the alum block or shaving soap+brush, I use goop-in-a-can nowadays (shaving cream) because its faster and easier. Most wet-shaving enthusiasts would call that blasphemy, but I couldn't care less. I started wet shaving to save time, money, and my skin, not to "enjoy shaving", as if that's even possible.
I guess I'm *really* old school....the razor you're advocating was called a "safety razor" when I was a kid, it was just going OUT of style...I bought one at an antique store for....maybe $2., 20 years ago... you can likely still find them at antique/flea market type places, among the "smalls"....

Shaving is one of those things that I am still uncomfortable with even though doing it for almost a decade. I just use a hair clipper and then shave may be once or twice a month if it's very much required

hair clipper? why not get a beard trimmer and set it to it's lowest length setting?

Burlington
Can anyone confirm if they were also able to get this for $4.99 in the GTA. Best I have found in Burlington is $9.99 and the Shoppers 1.5 km away (same owner) has it still for regular price!
