I wouldn't be surprise if they'll have another one targeted after this to people with lots of points.

I'm sitting on 44k Optimum Points ($60 value). Hmmm...what should I buy to maximize $75 credit?

Do you collect points on the purchase of the gift card AND buying the lottery tickets? would you mind explaining for a complete noob?
Points apply to a gift card purchase. However, in Ontario, lottery tickets are not eligible for points.

Good article. I've got a whack of points as well (though not 500K!). My advice and what I've been doing myself is to keep racking them up with 20x app coupons and other app coupons until the merger. This assumes you'll buy things regularly enough from an LCL banner/SDM to essentially treat it as cash.
I have almost 500K SDM alone. That's not including PC points! And I've redeemed a few times. Your advice is exactly my thinking after reading that article. I seem to be able to rack up the points with no trouble in any event. Smiling Face With Open Mouth

This was the promo they used to have years ago (talking like 4+). If I remember correctly, 210$ for 95k points was their best deal ever, then they downgraded to 200$ for 95k points for a while and then for the past two years or so they've been doing the points back thing. I'm super excited to spend my points on makeup personally!
Their best mega redemption was $250 for 95K points back in 2011. They had a few at $220 and maybe some $230.

If you always redeem at the top level, the "points back" redemption events were actually better, IMO. You'd spend 95K points, get $170 worth of stuff and then get back 30K points worth $53.68 at the top redemption level.

I couldn't find anything on the PC Optimum website that confirmed you could only spend points in $10 increments. They just kept saying 10,000 pts = $10 and such, but nothing specifically on redeeming partial points over $10.
Currently PC Points can only be redeemed in $10 (ie. 10,000 point) increments. Presumably this will still be the case for PC Optimum. Really, as far as I can tell, once your SDM Optimum points get converted, PC Optimum points will work exactly as PC Points currently do.

Since we only get max PC points after merger if we have greater than or equal to 95,000 points, the promo isn't as good as it appears as everyone who redeems points at this event and then has less than the 95,000 points leftover will be losing value at the merger. If you have 95,000 points left or more after redeeming at this event, you will not lose value at merger of the $210 for 95,000 points which is $40 on top of the regular $170 off.

For example, I currently have $138,142 points. If I redeem for 95,000 points for $210, I will have 43,142 points leftover and this will not give me a good conversion value when they merge. If I spend at this event, I will get $210 plus $68.12 so $278.12 at merger. If I don't spend, I will get $247.20 at merger. The difference is $30.92 so don't think you are getting the full $40 on top if you have less than 95,000 points after you spend at this event as I'm losing value as well at merger time.

sweet just got a 20x point for tomorrow, time for a nintendo switch and then get games on saturday with the redemption, just be 80,000 points + 4,500 from gift card purchase of $450 to cover the switch. 84,500 i think i have about 12,000 now, sweet will bring me to the 95,000 tier claim $210, nice nice. Thanks for the heads up OP.
Hoping someone can help explain (we collect but haven't redeemed in a long time). If we have 500K+ points, is it smarter to buy a Switch and get 20x points tomorrow or get $210 off on Saturday? Or even utilize the Senior's Day discount for 20% off? Thanks

Does anyone here know how to install the Shoppers Drug Mart app on an iPhone? I have tried searching many different ways but nothing seems to come up

Looks like they have removed it. If you had downloaded it before, you can download it again from the "Purchased" section of the App Store (on the main page, click your user icon on the top right, then go to Purchased and search for Shoppers).

Any chance you can post a better image of the promo pic? Cannot read it. Is it redeem 95000 and get back $40 worth of points on a certain date? If so, what is the date and how many points exactly? $40 of points after Feb 1st may mean less than $40 of points before the change over as some people are sitting at higher conversion levels.
