[Shoppers Drug Mart] Technicolor TC5580-UHD 55" 4K Television, $350

Shoppers has the 55" 4K television back similar to the one they had on sale in November.
I called the store and found out it was a newer model. TC5580-UHD. No manual is online for this model but they are selling the same one at Canada Computers for 419.99 and the technician there indicated it would be similar to the RCA RTU5540 that they have at Canadian Tire. They are made by the same manufacturer.

Yup, these are all rebrands sold by Curtis.
Just be aware of SDM return policy (or lack of) on electronics as these vary by store.

Curtis brand. Check reviews on this one.
I got a nice LG from SDM, but it is very limited. Ports etc.

Even better then BF pricing, but B panel, C panel, CSOT, Samsung, something else panel, all unknown questions.
In fact in Rand McNally they wear hats on their feet and hamburgers eat people

I purchased the TCU5563 back in January, probably left over from the November sale.
Although i've only used it for about 3 month, I love it, no issues yet.
The 5563 has the LSC550FN18 Samsung panel , no clue about the 5580

I've looked at the usual sites that tell you the panel and screen info and the 5580 isn't up there yet. The specs on it should be better as the equivalent newer RCA 55" 4K televisions have better specs. Will try to get a peek at the box today. Likely buying one tomorrow.

This is a picture of the box. The manager showed me the TV earlier today. I have included the specs from the 5563 for comparison.

Is this deal in their flyer? Or is there anyway to price match maybe at best buy who has a better return policy? Considering this TV to replace a 8 or so year old 1080P Phillips TV. Don't really care about the fake HDR stuff or "Real" 4K TV. Just want to know if this will play 4K Netflix and have a generally good picture that will be an upgrade from my old one.

most likely the LSC550FN18, not bad for the money, just be sure of the return policy at that specific branch.

There isn't that much variance outside the RCA brand, everything is else is almost always samsung.

In the other thread when the TV was on sale last November, folks indicated all you needed was a decent HDMI cable and to change the settings to EDID 2.0 and 4K works. Take it this was how they did it on the TV from November. It should be similar on this one. Once I buy it tomorrow I will take pics of the manual.

Thats good news :)
I guess what matters then is what is SDM's return policy in case its not (or the legs are too far apart for my TV unit)

The return policy is that there is no returns, and that's their policy!

I bought one at 12:01 am and I got the last one at Dufferin and Lawrence, the first 24h store that answered and would check store inventory by phone.
There was a guy standing there who had been waiting since 11pm.

I used a 20X coupon that had been added to my Optimum promo.

I'm hoping this tv is halfway decent...I will post further when I set it up...

Then I would stay away, there is a fairly good chance an exchange will be needed (sometimes more than once) to get a good set.
Good luck

BTW, unless you are stacking a 20x offer on top of the $350 you might want to consider the Haier for $450 at Costco, the $100 extra gives you 90 days refund/exchange, cheap warranty ($30 for 5 years) and Chromecast receiver.

Bit the bullet, picked one up this morning at a local SDM (Kanata on Hazeldean Rd). Two on display and more in the back. Service menu shows this model as using a BOE H550QUB-H11 panel. 4K YouTube looks decent, albeit I’m testing this on my old gtx970 which only goes 30fps.

If anyone has other tests they’d like me to perform I’ll have some free time this weekend to do so. At $85 in taxes and fees a “free” TV for the office/bedroom ain’t bad at all.

I will have mine within the next hour but probably wont get to set it up till this afternoon. Need to move some things around in the rec room to fit it where I want it.
As per return policy my local SDM manager said 30 days on their side...the rest on the manufacturer.
