It's the right time to get a dividend payment from Royal Bank in a couple of days, that's all I can tell you.

...I thought you already were short? You said "I will short 20 RY Stocks at $96~ or so." and we blew past that days ago..? Hmm, either way you'll probably get a better price for your short today as CIBC just posted monster earns.

"CIBC profit up 20%, TD up 25% as bank earnings stay strong."

Great results overall. Significant beat on the CIBC front.
Eh...that link is from Dec 1, 2016

CIBC reported today

CIBC reports 13% first-quarter profit rise, beats forecasts - Article - BNN

No. I was going to. But unlike the OP i am not even confident. And i am only doing 25 shares (play money). I did put in a limit order at $100 now.

Just doing it thinking the trend will reverse. Very short term speculation tbh.

Royal Canada beats estimates as profit jumps 24%.

“This is a great example of why a lot of investors – a lot of Canadian investors – hold the banks and will likely continue to hold the banks, despite concerns about an overheated housing market," Andy Nasr, vice president and investment strategist at Sentry Investments, told BNN Friday. "They deliver, and consistently deliver, mid-single digit to high-single digit earnings growth.”

you got it. they make a stable base to any portfolio. there will be hiccups along the way but long term the banks are decent investments.

Well, ok if you think so... what catalyst do you see and how much do you think it will fall?

I believe that there are much less risky plays than what you are suggesting. This company is a cash generating behemoth. I'd recommend leaving it alone and pursuing another avenue.

I am biased. Much of family's current standard of living was made possible via owning this stock over the long term.
