While i don't believe there will be a total sell out at launch, many areas will be sold out and those people will resort to ebay no dought.

Should I return my 2 Nintendo Wiis?
I recently secured 3 nintendo wiis. I purchased 2 extra ones with the intention of selling them. But people all over have been telling me there will be no shortage at all, and that selling wiis after launch is a bad investment, especially since i'm paying msrp for them. Please give me your opinions. Thanks.

Heh, I'm kind of in the same boat. I've got 2 Wiis preorderd and my friends have all been telling me it's pointless to try and sell them. I figure you might as well keep them and see how it goes around launch time.
Worst case scenario is I have them refunded at the stores I purchased them from which are Toys 'R Us and Rogers Video...by the way.

I preordered 2 from zellers (that crazy 399.99 package w/ two games)....and one from Rogers video...I'm now thinking I will return 1 back to zellers, so I dont get stuck with 2 extra games that I will arleady have (excite truck and rayman). BUT, I hate the fact that Rogers video is charging $20 for shipping....so I'm torn as to which to return....any more suggestions.

Zellers might still have a few left. Rogers is full, so is ToysRUs. EB/FS/BB are still no decided yet.
As for refunding them, I don't see why you should. The profit margin will not be high, but it's not like it's none. The worst case for you is to refund it back at full price.

Actually, I called a few Zellers stores, and some still have them. Try the smaller ones, ones that aren't located in malls, big plazas, etc. One zellers told me they haven't sold any! But, this was last week though....good luck.
I understand I can return them....but if I wait all the way until the day it's released, and I preordered it, do you think I'll still be able to return it? Or does it go by the day I preordered it?

If people didn't pre-order or buy to resell there probably wouldn't be shortage! I mean, I can see how people are looking to profit off of shortages but, I am kind of amused by it... Like, I am sure with the PS3s some Ebay people have probably ordered hundreds of them...

There will still be a shortage on the PS3's........
have you seen the numbers?
but yes if no one buys to resell. the shortage wouldnt be as bad I agree
but welcome to the world of supply and demand. since supplies are low, and demand is high. the market price is going to make the PS3 worth more. (and since retail kept the price the same) its a deal to get it at retail no matter what._______________

With no preorder you might find a Wii at launch if you're lucky as there are a fairly substantial amount of them being shipped.
Getting a PS3 at launch without a preorder? No chance in hell. 90% of the people buying a PS3 are doing so with the idea of ebaying them for 100% or more profit.

Well, I decided to cancel my www.rogersvideo.ca preorder. Since they are preordering at eb games on Monday for both the Wii and Ps3, if I'm able to get a Wii (and hopefully a ps3 too!), then I will return my other zellers one as well. That way, I'll have 2 at launch, one to keep, and one to sell.
I was never really the type to sell consoles due to shortages...but with so much madness with the 360 and now the PS3, I couldn't help but think that maybe I could make enough to get a free console. I still regret not selling my Xbox 360 during the weeks after the launch day, I would've made a good profit.

There will not be a shortage. Not enough demand for that.
