If you have no problem with their very limited lens selections then yes go for it. Personally I won't as Sony has their main focus on their high end FF line up. Sony has most of their resource on the FF R&D and so the APSC will rarely get anything nice. If downsizing is your main goal of the switch then you should look into the M43 world instead.

Size-wise this is how I would outfit them: 70D+17-55 2.8, A6300+16-70, PanZS100 to compare

+2 on this. I shoot concerts in low light, and a 70-200 2.8 is a must have. I picked up an open Tamrom 70-200 VC Nikon mount for $880 USD. Compared to the Sony solution, no contest.

Now, if I was just looking at a travel rig with a couple small primes, sure Sony looks great if you don't mind the Zeiss price tags .

if you mainly shoot 70-200 and want small.. you can consider micro 4/3 with the panasonic 35-100mm it's a great lens. stabilized, weather sealed and cost about $900 used

next to a xe2 with 18-55, the 35-100 is internal zoom too.
