Got a quote to replace a 12 year old lennox system (AC is gone)

SLP98UH090XV36C 90000BTU Variable-capacity operation
XC14-030 2.5 TON
icomfort Touch® thermostat
MErv 10/16 filter adaption

Price after rebates and HST ~ $9500

Someone once told me that we pay more in Ottawa than the people in the GTA. Judging from earlier post that looks to be true by about $1500. Anyone from Ottawa that had a different experience?

Mind if I ask who quoted you that?? Try Reid 's Home Comfort, I got the best price on Lennox from them. ;)

I got a quote from an Ottawa company of Lennox G61V-70 3500+tax installed. Is this a good price?

Thanks!

That's what i paid for mine just recently, it's "fair market value" after some checking around, good installation is what i was most concern about...i think i had a good install done, everything works, everything seems "air-tight"...we'll see how things go once we have another hot and humid summer and the AC starts kicking in to work furnace...heating was good but the temps headed north shortly after the install.

Climate works. Impressively laid out quote though. I have requested a quote from Reid and the Costco installer. Will post the comparison here.

We just purchased an "old" house and will like to replace the entire HVAC system. It is a small bungalow (1300 sqft + basement), but currently has two furnace and two ACs. We will like to combine it into one system.

Got a quote for the following,

Quote #1
Trane XV95, 60,000 BTU
Air Cleaner
Humidifier
Pump, Condensate?
Remove old furnace, relocate existing AC
Re-run duct system in basement (reuse some duct work)
$8265.16 - HST included

Quote #2
American Standard, 2 stages, 80,000 BTU
Keeprite 14.5 SEER
Re-run entire house duct system
$9000 - cash no tax

Waiting to meet Quote #3 on Tuesday.

Are these OK price? I understand that I need to re-run entire duct work main trunk and also most of of the branch.

Got a couple of quotes - both from the same supplier (prices not including tax):
Lennox 2 ton AC 13ACX for $3600
Lennox 2 ton AC 14ACX for $3900

Lennox 90k BTU G61 mpv $4500
Lennox 90k BTU ML193 $3900

Are these reasonable prices ? If not what would be reasonable for these products?

Any suggestion for which is the better way to go for the A/C and furnace.

Thanks in advance !

My quote:
  • American Standard Gold SI "Allegiance 13" 2ton - $2200.
  • Install of new unit, removal of old. Mfg warranty, 5 year installer labour warranty.
  • Warranty does not require a maintenance contract to maintain (of course maintenance must still be done, but not required to have a yearly paid visit)
  • Straightforward install, approx 5m of unfinished basement between furnace and outside compressor location. Circuit breaker panel is right next to furnace as well.
GTA area.

Hey Steve98!
That sounds like a really good price! Does it include tax too?
How many BTU?
Would you mind PM'ing me your contact?
Currently looking to get something done within this week.
got several quotes but quotes for dual-stage furnaces I've got including install + tax
have been more than yours for cheaper brands.

Mind you i've called at least 10 companies in the GTA and got them to come-in to check

American Standard 2400
York 2500
Rheem 2500-2900
Lennox 2500-2800
and not including rebate yet
been told the American Standard, Trane, and Lennox are all one of the best

oops did not realize above was AC still less than the 2500 i got quoted!
Did you end up getting them to install?
How was the workmanship and service?
thanks

I am in the market for a new furnace and possibly AC unit in the Burlington/Hamilton ON area. Anyone has any recent experience and recommendations about what brands are best and where to get the best deals and workmanship?

Home is 1450 SQ FT + basement

cyber7 wrote: Not sure what all is included in your quote?? If it's $7810 + HST JUST for the furnace, that seems awfully high to me!! :-0

After 9 seperate quotes and MUCH research, I also decided to go with a Trane system. I also got the 60K, 2 stage, DC motor
unit (XV95) and the contractors price is $4389 + HST installed, which includes turning the unit 180* for easier access and
adapting ductwork, gasline, and electrical. :) We're getting 10 years parts & labour from Trane, be vigilant as to
who is providing the warranty, manufacturer or installer, I believe it makes a big difference if you ever have to claim on it. ;)

Whole system, furnace, A/C, TCONT800 thermostat, 4" media filter box (check out price/availability between 4" & 5" before
you decide which to get ;) ) & installation-----TOTAL: $7473 + HST. Added a Honeywell HE300 fan-powered humidifier ($650 installed),
and upgrade to the TCONT803 thermostat (controls humidity in summer) for an extra $100
Cyber7, Who is the quote from? I am interested in the HE300 as well

I hate seeing this. Why install a 2-stage furnace with a single stage thermostat????

customer thinks that they are getting a great thermostat...but it isn't designed for the furnace they have purchased...

Hello,

I have some quotes for a new furnace and A/C from multiple companies. The prices aren't too far apart, but I'm concerned about the reputation and workmanship of the company. Does anybody have experience with any of the following?

Service Experts (Costco) - Around $8550
Spring Home - Around $7740
Coretemp - Around $8100
Cosmopolitan - Around $8500

Quote is for a 3 ton Lennox XC14 and 90k BTU EL296V furnace, after all applicable taxes and rebates. All of the sales reps seemed friendly and knowledgeable, except Cosmopolitan. I am definitely not going that them. Thanks!

Not sure, but I've always heard the rumor that 50% of a quote is the cost of installation?!?
I think they made $200-300 for the cost of installation, rather than $1000. And they did 5 of our houses as a result.

We have yet to have any issues with our a/c's. Keeping fingers crossed. As we each saved about $1000 when comparing what we paid to the quotes of their competitors.

You're on the right track in not going with Cosmopolitan. I had a terrible experience with them last summer. My review is posted in their Homestars profile. Ignore the positive reviews. They try to "bribe" unsatisfied customers with services that costs them next to nothing. However, they won't fix the installation issues.
