Was at SEARS Saskatoon - No toys except for some BeyBlade stuff - 50% off. I swore they used to have a toy section - must have boxed it all up and shipped it all off.

The few stores I called in the GTA said they were no longer selling toys.

Just to let everyone know.... Sears has horrible shipping practises....
I ordered the gungan sub and republic striker when it was on sale back in dec.... they both came with damaged boxes and the boxes were punctured.... why and how you ask... its because they ship the items using only their shopping bags.... yes the cheesy plastic shopping bags. Not only that.... they put the shipping label on the box. I called to complain and I was told that is how they ship all their items... so I said ok I'll return and order again and ship it to a store (because they told me that it would "better" and it wouldn't have the label on the box. Well, the boxes were in better shape but the shipping label was still on the box.
Just a warning....

I was also peeved off at first about the labels being on the box but those shipping labels can be easily peeled off.

Where do you all buy your Lego for decent prices? Wait for Sales locally? Lego Shop? States? etc? I'm just getting back into it and collecting some sets for my son. I ordered some sets that i'll have to hid in the Garage - my wife would kill me.

Has anyone bought sets made by "Best-Lock"? Comments?
They're supposed to be LEGO compatible.

Not sure about everyone else, but I try and get most of mine from the states. Though I only live 20 minutes from the border and just ship most of them to a place just over the border and bring them back. For the sets I do buy in Canada, I ususally wait for clearance sales at Walmart, Superstore, Toys R Us, etc. I have not got too much into the ordering from Amazon in the UK/France, but a few people on the board seem to have success getting deals on the bigger sets from there.
I am lucky and my wife is tolerant of my lego buying, and actually lets me display the expensive sets in the house.

getting a sale from the states is the best as the prices are still 20% cheaper retail.... and when it goes on sale its almost 40% cheaper then canadian retail. but that is if you are already down there shopping or making a trip to buy a few hundred dollars worth. other than that you have to wait for big sale prices like toysrus 30% or 40% off certain sets, or sears 50% off all toys, or barnes and noble's sale with pay only 6.50 shipping and 2.50 per item after to canada or amazon uk seems to be good deals after shipping and duties (never tried yet) or lego shop when its on sale and collect the points or chapters with sale and with coupon or costco when they have sets in... its pretty cheap. those are my avenues of getting lego for cheaper. plus coming to this thread always help.jonnyrockets wrote: ↑Where do you all buy your Lego for decent prices? as for hiding my collection.... i don't even bother anymore.... my wife knows i have one and i stack it nicely in the corner and she can't tell if its getting bigger or not.... hehehehe as long as its all contained in that corner... she'll never know.....

best lock, mega blocks and kreo all don't have the feel and snap together quality as lego. if you are not a die hard collector of lego then go ahead with any of those other brands but if you can afford lego then why not build your own stargate, transformers, terminator, star trek, battleship models. you can even use their instructions (download from somewhere on the internet) and substitute the pieces with lego pieces.

Mainly because I don't want to cannibalise my existing LEGO sets to do so.dragon_ll wrote: ↑best lock, mega blocks and kreo all don't have the feel and snap together quality as lego. if you are not a die hard collector of lego then go ahead with any of those other brands but if you can afford lego then why not build your own stargate, transformers, terminator, star trek, battleship models. you can even use their instructions (download from somewhere on the internet) and substitute the pieces with lego pieces.

Glad to know I'm not the only one hiding Lego from my wife, I'm not looking forward to the text/phone call when Helms Deep comes tomorrow. On a side note holy crap Amazon.co.uk has fast shipping for standard shipping. They must have screwd up because I ordered yesterday and it will be here tomorrow!

that most likely means its coming via UPS which means you'll get nailed with $10 brokerage and taxes.. luckily mine shipped via DHL and I wasn't dinged.scott83 wrote: ↑Glad to know I'm not the only one hiding Lego from my wife, I'm not looking forward to the text/phone call when Helms Deep comes tomorrow.
