I know it isn't as good as the deal a while ago for $190 and it has the SandForce controller but are there any other good deals to be had on a 240Gb+ HD out there?

Is that good?

Yea not bad, its around $0.50/GB for other sales like Vertexes and Agilities, which are OCZ, and Mushkin produces higher quality stuff, so yup its not bad

OP forgot to mention $9.99 shipping.
Wake me up when it's $200 again + free shipping. That would deserve to be in the HOT FORUM. :)

This is HOT. What over drive is selling at the $/GB level. And nevermind that HUGE capacity SSDs (480GB) are a rare find on sale.

Remember during that pre-Xmas sales this year say SSD drives sell for prices never seen before and not seen since.

If upgrading an older laptop, this and any fancy super fast SSD will be bottlenecked by the older laptop's SATA I/II controller, so no noticable speed advantage.

Very good. OCZ has been price fixing lately, other brands noticed and all SSD prices gone up.

Tempting, but I absolutely don't need 480GB. Way too big for 80-90% of most people. Somebody poke me when they have 120gb for $70-$80 or lower.

Quite a good deal. I have the 240gb version of this and paid about $200 about 10 months ago. Would be great, but checked my steam library which I would like to move to SSD and it is 463 gb, I was not aware it had gotten that large

Hmm, if I got this I could replace my 120GB Vertex 3 and HDD with one drive instead...get more battery life...but that's a pretty hefty investment just for that. Guess I'll stick to my current setup.

I'm interested but not confident in my ability to migrate windows 8 onto this thing. I saw there are 'SSD upgrade kits' you can buy from kingston or crucial where they give you a cable and software. If this was 200 I might pull the trigger, now probably not.

Still, the idea of better battery life and less heat pleases me. D:

Is there a way to install it in a 7mm space? Does it come with a spacer from 7 mm to 9.5 mm that I can remove or is it a pure 9.5 mm thick drive ?

The only drives that use spacers that I know of are the Intel 520. Samsung Drives are 7mm as is Kingston V+200, and there are 7mm variations of Crucial M4, Vertex 3, and few others.

Good thing I only saw this after it was out of stock since I just bought an OCZ Vector 256GB for the same price.

I remembered the $190 deal (and remember other SSD threads and how many people are rude to posters or call it a cold deal because of shipping etc..) so I didn't bother posting this but did order it when it first went to this price on Thursday, January 17 @ 8am and I received it this morning. Great price for a solid 480GB drive imho.

Will install it tonight and see how it goes. I wondered how it lasted so long before selling out and then was suddenly gone when I checked it now - RFD effect :p.

Peter

P.S. Note this is the non-DX version (someone posted a link to a review of the DX - that is NOT this). Still a great drive though, esp for the price...

P.P.S. There is a 7mm version. This is not that.

Paid this 190$ + free ship a while back... I have most of my Steam library on it. The other one is going in my Vosto 2420 once I take the time to crack it open...
