Huh, did you work at TD as a mutual fund seller while wearing a TD T-shirt once? You sound very familiar lolUrbanPoet wrote: ↑Retail Banking. I like customers. A few parts are annoying... I also dislike the unpleasant customers we get occasionally! Luckily I work in an affluent area so people have a bit more class... But the unpleasant ones are always saying stuff like "I'm the CEO of google I have a million dollars ra ra ra, so you should make this water turn into wine or else you'll never work in this town again! mmm hmmmm".
What do you do for a living and do you enjoy it?

Immigration. I have the unfortunate pleasure of dealing with scammers all day.
Examples:
- Everyone and their grandmother uses the Rwanda genocide as their story in order to get into Canada, claiming they get tortured regularly. We later discover they have never even visited Rwanda nor can they speak any dialect in or around Rwanda. Their stories fall apart soon after;
- Fake identities are common as the immigrant will pay someone in their country for false documents/passports
- People going to government assisted housing where they pay $80/mo for a good/nice apartment because they claim they are too poor/abused by husband/emotional problems. Later we discover that the very person has hidden bank accounts with tens of thousands/hundreds of thousands and a brand new luxurious vehicle in their driveway, hiding it all from the government;
- A significant amount of people who come here 'poor' have lots of property in their country of origin which is being rented and the money is deposited into secret bank accounts that they hide (sometimes very well) from the government while milking the social system here in Canada
- Attempts to get child care benefits meanwhile they do not even have kids of their own and sometimes have the audacity to use their friends' child to pass it off as their own;
This is just scratching the surface. The amount of frauds and scam artists that enter this country is astonishing and is crippling the social system. We barely have the manpower as it stands and investigations are poorly run and most of the time they are not run at all because lack of resources. There are certain countries/regions that we should limit in terms of entries and others that bring contributing immigrants we should increase our entries with. Caribbean is the absolute worst of them all (crime, drugs, milking social system), China (hard work, school, job) is one of the best in my opinion.
For every 10 scumbags I deal with everyday, I might meet one who is honest and legitimate. The funniest part is that I am able to understand several African dialects and Arabic, so sometimes I will get immigrants speaking in-front of me to eachother about the on-going scam (what to say, what no to say, go over their story) or about how stupid the Canadian immigration agency is for falling for their story - they would never believe a white Canadian could possibly understand what they are saying (I get schedule perks and favoured on job postings b/c of this). At the end of the day I try not to take work home with me, but just the fact that I have to deal with frauds, liars and scammers all day takes a toll on me.
I really dislike this job.

The hours are good and the pay is good at times however it is not steady. I am still young and would like to get into some sort of IT or a trade.. I wish I knew what I wanted to do with my life...

World Elite Credit Card Specialist for a Bank. I basically train/teach call centre agents about products and sales. I used to be one myself.
I hate it. I despise it so much. Dread going in there each day only because it pays garbage ($39k) for the work we do, abuse we take and micromanaging we have to deal with.
The only plus would be the benefits for you and your family, and no banking fees. BMO is bs other than that.
The worst part about getting into call centre jobs when your young is you kind of get stuck in that field.

Agreed, the call-center environment can be dreadful. But there's always opportunities to move up isn't there with a marketing diploma, stuff like that, right?TorontozFinest wrote: ↑World Elite Credit Card Specialist for a Bank.
