Lucky you! That's > 14000 Aeroplan miles for just one trip!
As for SH Hooters...... the service was nice but the portions may not be as big as you think it might be....![]()
As for places to visit in SH, I highly recommend this book --> http://shop.lonelyplanet.com/product...productID=2524
If you speak Mandarin, then the best way to visit BJ from SH is to join a local tour group from SH. Local 7 day tours of BJ (include flight there and train back, hotel, bus, tour guide, all meals etc.) should cost (upgrade to 3-4 star hotels) less than $500 Cdn.

Sights to see in Shanghai?
I am heading to Shanghai on business at the end of March but will have 2 - 4 days of personal time available...
Any suggestions of what to see, where to go?
I have already decided this is a must see....
http://hooters.know-where.com/hooter...ntl.html#China
I *might* head to Beijing after the business trip....
I really would like to see the great wall during this trip.
Who knows if I will ever have a chance like this again!_______________
Just my $0.03.... ( You didn't seriously think I was only going to share 2 cents did you? )
Heatware

Fake Market near Xiang Yang Park. You can find everything you can imagine is made by brand names (LV, Prada, Channel..).

Shanghai museum was an eye-opener.
The Bund.
Harbour cruise at night.
Their yuppie area (can't remember the name, but it's like Lum Kwai Fong in HK).
Pearl TV tower.

This is the place to go for shopping. The clothing is good quality and cheap. For a couple of dollars and you can have any brand you want.. haha... But seriously, it's awesome.

Check out the Jin Mao Tower (Grand Hyatt), it's quite a good view from up top, but you have to pay. Otherwise, you could go up to the night club to have drinks. It's 360 degree view (not rotating though). After 10 pm, they turned off most of the city lights (pearl tower, etc), but that was back in late Oct 04.
We also went to one of the nearby water villages (venice-like), it's quite nice if you have extra time to do a day trip. It took about 45mins by bus to get there.
You should also eat at Shanghai Uncle, a few locations around town. Much more modern and excellent food. The older, more "famous" restaurants are losing their reputation according to one of my close friends who has lived there for the past 2 years.
Enjoy it, the food there is absolutely amazing!
Tons of high quality knock-offs to shop for at that one area already mentioned by another post earlier in this thread.
