Signing for Packages
Last night I was with a friend and told them I was expecting a package today, and it might require my signiture so I needed to get up early. I explained how if I'm not home they hold the package for a day (bring it way downtown) which is a 1hr+ bus ride from here and a major inconvenience.
He then brought up an interesting idea, "Can't you leave a sign on the door for them to just leave it there?" Could you? I mean sometimes packages strictly require a signiture but is it possible to give permission for them to leave it inside the door?
BTW: I live in a house, in a fairly trusting neighborhood (we rarely lock our doors).
Anyone have any experience with this?

Awesome! I hate sticking around the WHOLE day just to receive a package.
Dear Purolator:
Please leave any packages requiring a signature inside the door.
Thanks,
Name

Sound good? :)

My friend called up Purolator and asked recently and that's what they said to do. I guess they take the note (with your signature) as proof of receipt probably.

The note has been written and is now on my door. I'll be back later and hopefully my package will be waiting for me :)

I don't think the note worked. I wasn't left a slip, and the parcel wasn't there. When I checked the tracking on purolator.com it says:
2005/07/04 17:45 Delivery Rescheduled
Did they see the note and decide to try to redeliver it when I was home? :/
