I bought a Simoniz Pressure Washer S1700 last summer and just used it 3 times. When I tried to use it in April this year, the Gun Assembly had a serious leakage. I then made the complaint to the customer service. The customer service blamed me to put the pressure washer in the garage. The leakage is due to the winterization. Come on.. in vancouver??? If we cannot put a plastice assembly inside the garage at Vancouver, mind as well throw it away.
This is the email replied from the Customer Service Rep.

Subject: RE: Complaint - Reliability of the S1700 Gun Assembly File 217427
Hello Mr. xxxx,
Vancouver does benefit from mild winter temperatures compared with the remainder of Canada but the temperatures do still occasionally fall below freezing point.
The winterization and long term storage details are provided on page 16 of the owner’s manual.
Warranty specifications on page 4 of manual specifies that warranty does not cover damages due to freezing.
The accessories supplied with original purchase are covered with a 90 day limited Warranty. Any replacement parts purchased directly from us are covered with a 30 day warranty allowing time to test the replacement part and assure they are functioning properly. We do not have any set expectations on replacement gun assemblies since it varies mostly on use, care and maintenance. At this point there is no reason to think a replacement gun with not last under normal circumstances and properly winterized.
I can assure you that I am fully empowered to address the situation at hand since all our emails are answered by the escalation team.
Regards,
Alain xxxxxx

The gun assembly only has 90 days warranty. They advised me to buy another replacement... hey.. REPEATED BUSINESS !!!
Another intersting thing is that this company has no web-site at all. I don't know why this company osirus-solutions takes care of the service for the Simoniz product.
Then, I disassembled the gun assembly. I have found that the design is totally a joke. There is a rocker arm to push a moving plunger back and forth to open and close the valve. This design is totally not acceptable for a pressuized system, not even for a non-pressureized system. As a engineer myself, I totally feel ashamed of this design. The guys who designed and approved the design of this assembly should be fired. They should NOT get invloved in any design of any industrial equipment which is absolutely needed to satisfy the reliability and safety requirements.
My conclusion is
ABSOLUTELY DO NOT buy this product. If the gun assembly is leaking, not even try to buy another replacement. Just throw it away and spend more money to buy another brand name. PERIOD...

If this was one of the ones from the clearance at Zellers, I hear you. I bought one and it was garbage. Luckily I caught it in time to get an easy refund.

i generally stay away from simoniz products as they reek of poor quality and design, whether it's a mechanical device or car wash/detailing supplies. i bought the cordless orbital waxer a while ago and the rechargeable battery only lasted 1 season. after that it wouldn't hold a charge for more than 10 minutes worth of usage. replacement batteries (by simoniz) was around $40, while a brand new unit was typically on sale for $50. either way, i wouldn't buy any simoniz products ever again.

Doesn't it get below 0 Celsius in vanvoucer? Did you drain the washer properly and pumped "RV plumbing winterizer" through it?

The piece you're talking about is a little white round tube with a flange. I've had two go on me. In fact nearly everyone I know with a Simonize pressure washer has had the same trouble.
In warranty they send you out the piece. Out of warranty you have to buy the whole gun assembly. Frustrating.

I have the same unit and experienced the same leakage from the wand handle (although not caused by winter storage).
It was out of warranty and i ended up buying a replacement wand this weekend.....I bought the simoniz replacement kit (apparently I didn't learn the first time with Simoniz).
The replacement wand causes an airlock every time I pull the trigger. I have not spent the time yet to look into the problem, but am wondering if anyone else has experienced the same problem.
Thanks

I have the same unit and I store it in my detached garage in Vancouver as well. I never bother winterizing it either. I have already used it once this spring and it worked fine. This business of claiming that you have frost damage is garbage especially in that the handle is rubber and plastic. Water is not left in there under pressure. There should be some room to expand.
I store bottled water in the garage and it was fine all winter, never froze.
The design they use for the valve may be acceptable because the pump should turn right off when you close the valve, although I don't exactly know how it all works together.
Maybe your retailer will go to bat for you. Make them take the whole unit back._______________

Simoniz stuff crappy tire sale are crap!!!! I have the 1950 washer for 2 1/2 years, within 6 months the handle started to leak. I called them, they send me a replacement as goodwill because they know they sell crap. I stored my washer in the basement over the winter for the past 2 years. Now I tried to use it just the other day, somehow a pin size crack developed in the middle of the replacement handle and it leak again. I just put tape on it for now, I guess I'll be putting some silicone on it to see how it goes. However, I am somewhat surprised that it still work after 2 years based on what I read on here.
The important thing is to either store it indoor during winter, or winterize it before winter if you store it in garage.

A couple of summers ago one Saturday morning I had my rototiller in for servicing and while I was waiting for the one guy to tally up the bill etc there was a parade of at least 5 people coming in to the shop all with a broken Simoniz pressure washer

Simoniz Pressure Washer
CanadianMofo and NoCash,
Please do not buy the Gun Assembly again. It'll have the same problem. Yes, it is the white round tube with the flange. Once you have used several times, the tolerance between the plunger and the housing gets bigger. It will cause a serious water leakage.
Jande9
It's not because of the frozen temperature. It's what this company uses for excuse. It's all about the design. Look at this, if this assembly cannot even be stored in the Garage at Vancouver, I don't think any other people can use it at Toronto and Montreal.
I have been able to contact the Canadian Tire Purchasing Agent to submit my feedback on this product. I don't want other people to be suffered again becuase of this crap.
