I've setup a 'scheduled' transfer through Tangerine to PULL XXXXXXXXX $'s from Simplii on Feb. 23.
This usually triggers right after midnight of the 22nd.
It also provides the potential possibility to earn interest over the weekend in both accounts (not guaranteed).

Is Tangerine's offer 2.5% or 2.6%? They say 1.5% on top of the base rate of 1.0%, but the base rate on their website right now appears to be 1.1%...

2.5%
If the base rate increases, the bonus rate decreases.
In this case the base increased from 1.0% to 1.1% so the bonus rate decreased from 1.5% to 1.4%

If you pull a large amount from Simplii into Tangerine, then funds above the hold limit will be subjected to hold for at least 5 days. However, you won't miss any interest. You do need to make sure you pull into your saving account.

If you push from Simplii to Tangerine, the funds should arrive in Tangerine after 1 overnight processing and will not be subjected to any hold. However, you will miss 1 day of interest as the funds will "disappear" after leaving Simplii and before showing up in Tangerine.

When should I initiate a push from Simplii to Tangerine so money comes out before the 28th, 26 or 27th? I just realized I can't do a pull from Tangerine since they have a stupid limit of only 3 accounts you can link and I'm at the limit Slightly Frowning Face

I think you can have the funds moved to your checking account on the 26th. Remember that you have to do this one day earlier because of Simplii's stupid next-day transfer even for internal accounts. Initiate the push on the 27th. You'll lose one day of interest for 27th. The funds should arrive in Tangerine checking on the 28th. Remember to move to saving before EOD.

It took over 2 months but it looks like pulling from Simplii to EQ bank has finally been fixed.

Most should have 2.5 with Tangerine. Wonder if we can double dip like EQ by timing with the weekend.

Got an email from Simplii this morning and saying I can get 2.5% interest from March 1st to June 30th with bonus interest paid in July. That’s the same rate that Tangerine offers now. I guess I’ll just leave my savings with simplii for 3 more months
Fine print:
Getting an exclusive rate of 2.50% couldn’t be easier: simply enrol now and starting March 1, 2018, you’ll earn interest on eligible deposits made between November 1, 2017 and June 30, 2018*. That means you’ll earn interest on deposits you’ve already made – plus on new deposits!

Edit: That's 4 months from March 1st to June 30th, not 3 LOL... Face With Tears Of Joy

Actually, Tangerine is better because they pay monthly; thus you get interest on your interest.

Actually, Tangerine doesn't pay interest on your interest earned in a promo campaign.

Under the terms of their offer (bullet point #15):
"Any interest paid into an Applicable Account, including Additional Interest, will not be treated as a new deposit for subsequently calculating Additional Interest payments."

I do personally prefer receiving interest monthly though as I like to keep round number balances (so I pull the interest earned out).
I haven't received the new Simplii offer yet unfortunately. :(

As has been demonstrated repeatedly on this and similar threads, the amount of additional interest on interest is too trivial to bother with(*)

Of greater concern to me is that Simplii doesn't indicate what rate you're actually getting, i.e. confirms that you're on a promo rate, until the end of the promo period when you get (or not) the bonus interest. Even better would be if they showed accrued interest throughout the promo period even if they didn't pay it out until the end.

(*) To demonstrate how trivial, consider that 1% on $100k is $83/month. Now 1% on that $83 is 7¢ in the first month, 14¢ in the second and 21¢ in the third, i.e. 42¢ in total.
