Sirius Canada Satellite Radio
Current subscription probably required
For those that have a radio I just called to cancel my subscription (radio broke) and was offered the new Sportster 5 radio for free including shipping. Once I called to cancel i was transfered to the retention department or whatever its called and they guy offered it to me no problems. The first radio he offered was the starmate but i asked for the sportster and he said that was fine.
I have also had a friend get a free boombox when he tried to cancel his account. If you have one it its worth a shot since its free. If you dont you can always try and see what happens you might get a radio for free who knows.

I called to cancel last week, and the best I could do is get $50 off the lifetime subscription, and 50% off on any radio. I ended up getting the lifetime sub, cuz that's all I really wanted and passed on the radio.

12 for 6
I called in last week to cancel and was offered a 12 for 6 package for both my radios. So basically a 50% discount for a year. Didn't really say anything special just that I didn't use them enough to jusify the cost and was offered the 12 for 6 package. Now if only I could get the liquore store to give me a 12 pack of beer for the price of 6 :-)

wow, i've had sirius for over 3 years in my car. Did you any of you have to agree to some time of 1,2,3 year subscriptions in order to get a new radio/discount?

I called like Dec 09 to cancel after my 1 year subscription was gonna end. they just took my info and canceled and said have a great day. infact the guy was the biggest *******. Sad to loose it, but glad to save the money. Its not worth it for the amount of times i use it.

I just canceled my subscription few weeks back ... and when i told the gal on the phone that i want to cancel best she could do i give me 1 month free. I wasn't planing to renew my subscription anyway as i wasn't using it enough to justify paying $160 a year for the service.
I was a bit surprised that 1 month was the only thing i was offered i guess business must be good

I still don't get the point of having a sat. radio in my car when the one that it came with works fine. I have a friend (cough, cough) that uses one of those nice "grey market" receivers and a set of external wireless speakers with no problems. Although it seems to be a more basic package with no premium stations...At least the price is right.

In Canada, Sirius is the dominant force. XM is nothng here. That's why the 0pricing isn't as competitive here. Now, if we got a US subscription....maybe then we'd have better luck. Still, there is no definitive answer on whether it's advantageous or not to get a US subscription over a Canadian one. I havent sat down to compare the channels offered by both US and Canada Sirius.

The difference is that in the US, you get both XM and Sirius. They merged a while ago in the US.
