Skateboard in plane

Hi,
Do somebody's know if we can carry a skateboard with use with carry on luggage in the plane. I will fly with United Airline from Montreal to Honolulu, Hawaii this Thursday. On the web site about sport equipment, they don't have information about the skateboard. I called them but the guy didn't know. Hard to have answere.

United Airlines parameters on Carry On Luggage Policy is here
https://www.united.com/CMS/en-US/travel ... ry-On.aspx

You are allowed 2 items
A Carry On Bag / Item ... no bigger than 9 x 14 x 22 inches
And one Personal Item ... no bigger than 9 x 10 x 17 inches

How big is your skateboard ?

Does it fall within either of these size ranges ?

If not, expect to check it
Any item larger than the carry-on baggage size and any item above the carry-on and personal item allowance will be checked to your final destination, and checked baggage service charges may apply.

American, United, Southwest, Delta, WestJet, and Air Canada all allow skateboards as carry-on luggage without extra charges as long as the board fits within weight and size requirements, which should not be a problem unless you have one of these.Sep 3, 2014

The answer also depends upon your status and boarding group with United. If you're purchasing a Basic Economy ticket, you will not be allowed any carry-ons, other than a backpack under your seat - no exceptions. Even if you get past the check-in agent with it, they will charge you $50 USD cash at the gate.

If you're in Group 4, then don't count on it either - there's a good chance all the overhead bins will be taken up by the time your group boards, and no one would give up their luggage space for a skateboard.

Also, count on people putting bags on top of your board; people don't look kindly on someone who takes up an entire bin with a board, poster tube, suit bag, etc. ;)
