ski pole questions...
not sure if I should post here or Sports or Fitness section... if so mod please help to move... thx in advance!
1. looking at to buy some downhill ski poles for beginner use but seems not easy to find some cheap ones... been visited SportChek and did not find them to have a various size left in stores... where should I go?
2. in terms of price, how cheap of a pair of ski poles do I look at? I know it varies from 40-50 to over 100 for a pair... but I am not looking to pay too much for a pair... what consider as cheap price for a pair?
thx for RFDers

Go to sportchek and buy the $10 ones. Honestly there's no discernible technology that goes into poles.
Just make sure you buy the right size.

As a beginner, you should learn to ski without the use of poles. When you get better and can link turns, poles are sometimes used to initiate and time your turns.

for some recent SportChek visits I saw some long ski poles cost around $29/pair cheapest only.
I did not buy since they're way too long than what I needed. Also I wasn't sure if $29/pair considered as good price....
Thanks for your comment.

giving some updates here
went to SportChek up on Markville Mall (Markham) and saw some old model of ski boots for sale as well as some poles...
end up picked up a pair of HEAD Ez-on 7.6 mens boots for myself original tag $249.99 and reduced to $129.99 and then on top 10% discount due to little wear shown on them.
Poles over there are mostly 120cm, 130cm long... happened to find a pair 115cm for myself and tag price was $29.99... ran up to cashier to check-out and in fact they're reduced to $19.99 and I think it's a steal...

good find, poles are basically useless, any will do.

There are lots of basic poles out there for about $20, which will be fine. There's no point in spending $100 on poles unless you know why the poles are $100
