SkypeOut
Hey,
Now that SkypeOut is free in North America until the end of the year, does anyone know if you are able to call and use voicemail systems? Does it allow you to access a company voicemail system in the traditional sense (press 1 for john, 2 for jack, etc).
If anyone knows, I would greatly appreciate it.
Thanks

Yes it can. However be warned, my credit card got blocked after I phoned the CSR using Skype. They seem to know if you're coming from SKype and that sets up a warning flag.

If Skypeout is free in NorthAmerica (including Canada)... Why would it be wrong to use it ??

Trace
It is virtually impossible to trace a call from something like Skype. So image you steal a credit card. Call someone using Skype and buy a whole bunch of stuff. Later on, the merchant realizes they were scammed and now has no recourse. They don't even know what country you are calling from.

I tried the other day and it didn't work for me. My keyboard doesn't send the proper tones as far as I know. Perhaps there's a small utility out there or a key combination someone knows about that would help.

Sure
With the millions of users world wide, do you think that eBay will tell you an IP address for a call that happened at a certain time, on a certain day? Do you know what is involved for them to track down your IP address?

All this trouble so you can recover a few dollars? Perhaps a thousand dollars? If they are in another country, would you spend more money, time and resources to hunt them down?
I think not.
Let's not forget, anyone that would commit a cyber crime, would probably use a proxy, or WiFi from an internet cafe.
Yeah, good luck.

Not true at all. They can seen an incoming number and they seemed to have a pool belonging to the skype service which are automatically flagged in the Chase bank system. This is when i called the bank, not the merchant. Merchant doesn't care. I'm just saying be careful when using skype to call your bank. It happened to me that after I phoned the credit card company using skype, my card was blocked and two CSRs had to unblock it for me each time.

But the original question still stands, does anyone know how to use automated phone services using skype?

Program
Here's a Skype touch-tone recognition application:
http://files.khaoslabs.com/khaosdial-setup.exe
So now you can click on that to do your banking...order pizza...get movie tix...or call John or Jack at work!

Skype works fine as touchtone as it is, however for places that do have caller id tracking, you can understand how if 1000012345 (tried this on my cellphone) shows up on the display, it'll raise flags.
