Speaking of the Sidekick, this was the phone I got with my very first cellphone plan, the Motorola VBox.. before that I had ghostline *shifty* with a StarTac

Rogers called it the Motorola V101. I had one too. Got it the day Rogers released it in Canada (I also had Rogers InternetTV the day before general release.)
That V101 was a pretty ***** phone.

The worst "phone" I've ever used. It was a personality clash with itself, not quite an electronic organizer, not quite a phone. But Brickbreaker was pretty epic..

I got it so I could use it in class, at that time no one really knew that you could speak through headphones. And it matched my pager.. :P

Here's some of the phones I had and liked for the time:

I was about to take off to Asia for a while, and saw some guy at work having this, and it was the shiznits. Sony Ericsson had a phone that had an add-on camera accessory, but this was either SE's first (or world's first) phone to have an integrated camera. I found that ridiculously cool, since I love snapping pics. Of course, the image quality sucked, but it was still a fun phone with nice materials, good looks, and cool (to me, at the time) ringtones.

Symbian was the most, powerful customizable OS back in the day. You could put media on MMC cards and play it back choppily! There were apps for MP3s, although you had to use the included headphones or the crappy built-in speaker. But it was crazy to see apps, customization and tons of tweaks... I set it up to share Internet over bluetooth from my computer, so surfing on the crapper was an early experience for me. Of course, the rendering of sites sucked.

I grabbed this because it had 3G (one of Nokia's first I think), 3G video calling (if you bought the dock LOL), but mostly because it had stereo audio output (for music). I kind of dug the metallic style too.

This was probably one of my favourites. Huge, colourful screen, user-friendly OS, nice sounds, great MP3 usage, solid build, but mostly I loved the camera, which took pics that still hold up today. Videos, albeit small, were smooth (for the time). Had a CCD sensor... so no wobble/jello effect!

Ah, the N80, with the original retina display, marketed as being a "multimedia computer," despite running the same OS as every freaking Nokia, including the N-Gage "consoles." I was so excited about this phone, 3MP camera, front AND rear cameras, slider, WiFi (I was like whoaaaaa), but best of all, a 352x416 2.2" screen that was REALLY sharp. Yup, I've been a PPI fan since before it was the rage.

I grabbed this bad boy because of the camera mostly, which, I think, was the only phone ever with optical zoom. It took what Nokia called DVD-quality video, which meant 640x480 @ 30 fps. Better than almost everything out there at the time, but the optical zoom weirdly did degrade quality and the phone would mute audio while zooming.
