Yes. Not ALL freebies are allowed there. It will be allowed at moderator discretion, so for the most part it is still appreciated if freebies are posted in the freebie section. If you feel you have a freebie that is of really great value, then it MAY be allowed in the hot deals forum. If a freebie is reported for being in the wrong forum, it will be looked at on a case by case basis.

Not lately, you enquired about this a month ago, and this was explained to you by two different mods on two separate occasions.
EOC is spot on, we are doing this on a test run since a lot of people missed out on some hot freebies because they never looked there, having some uber hot freebies in the hot deals could benefit everyone._______________
Nothing is true, everything is permitted.

I think it's a great idea. Sometimes I post credit card deals in the HOT DEALS section because I know almost no one views this site through the "new posts" function, but rather through the "hot deals forum". Personal Finance is a slow forum.. but if there's a CC offering $150 rebate on first year fee + $50 statement credit, then I think it should DEFINITELY be allowed in hot deals..
I think it's a great way to get a broader audience to take advantage of deals that they might subsequently miss out on if they view the site through the individual forums.

Well I've got a bit of a bone to pick then.. I notice when I make these HOT DEALS threads for CC deals they get merged very quickly to very broad-topic "personal finance" threads! I generally make a unique thread, rather then just adding the recent promotion to the current thread (IE) "The Scotiabank AMEX Thread" or "The TD Select Service Account Thread" - because well - generally no one really views these threads.
Not trying to burn bridges or be a complainer; I just really think that keeping these kinds of threads in the HOT DEALS would benefit waaaay more people. (I know sometimes Admin will post the topic to the home-page as well - but as previously mentioned, I'd say the majority of users view the site solely through the HOT DEALS forum, so they would still not see these posts).
Ultimately, the more view-able something is, the more people can take advantage right? =) just my 0.02

No worries, there's no bridge burning is going on. We have volunteer mods who put in a lot of time and work to keep the forums well greased. 90% of the time we are in sync, and every now and then, we might need to take closer look at some issues. I very much agree that a good credit card or credit card offer has as much deal/money saving value as the best deals we see, so we'll try to make some changes here.
