That there is no way he can play it,lol.Steam is screwing me,lol.Stupid me I thought I could uninstall it and let him install it and play it on his computer. But because the activation key is locked to my steam acct he can't play it,nor will they provide another key, which we were willing to pay for .I guess the only way around it is for him to buy the another copy of the game. What a waste.I guess once you buy retail version of the game, once your done, you just throw it away,so no one else can play it.
I guess I was expecting it to be like owning a car, bicycle,pc, or any electric appliance,or item you own.You can sell it or give it away to some else, afterall you bought and paid for it.But not a steam game once your done with it,you don't recycle it, sell it second hand or give it away, you just throw it out!!!
Ok thats my rant.

I fear the day console games become like this. Games will come with a one used code required to activate the game. A retail disc will only be there to install the data. Basically it's the same as digital purchases, but you install the game from disc instead of downloading it.

but at that point the 60 dollar games are dead and they'll need to offer constant sales like pc games do just to keep interest. the only reason I buy digital pc games is because it's cheap enough to warrant no physical copies or resale value and if sony/microsoft think people are going to happily lay down 60 bucks for air then lol

If you're this upset at Steam wait until you see the ***** the other companies pull. I think my copy of Arkham City only lets you install it five times total. Ever. That means I can't do my usual practice of uninstalling Steam games I'm not playing right now and only installing the ones I am to free up space on my SSD with it. I wish I'd done more research before I bought it, but I'm glad I didn't pay full price and got it 75% off during a sale. Check out some of the shady stuff EA pulls sometime.

THis is why i only by pc games that are heavily discounted. IF they are really cheap i dont mind giving up that freedom. At regular price though? No way.

Thats not the point,
"triple facepalm"
You buy something, say like a car, or a bike,or tires, you can give, sell ,or loan them to someone. Why? because you bought and paid for it,you own it.I tried to do a friend a favour because I no longer had use for the game,so why not recycle it to someone else?Or even sell it its my right.I even inquired how to purchase another key, flat out no. Just because I wasn't aware of this doesn't make it right.
How would any of you like it if you tried to sell/loan/give an item you own, bought and paid for only to be told you can't,so just throw it out.Great idea eh? Hell I won't re-sell my 3 yr old car/tv/furniture,cuz Steam says I can't.So I'll buy a new one and let the others rot on a shelf.Guess some people have more money than common sense!_______________

No, you are mistaken. You have licensed the game, you don't own it.
I don't like it any more than you do but it's simply the way it is. You are not comparing similar things either. I'm not siding against you cause I feel 100% the same way you do but you need to pay attention to these things. It's clearly in the tos and its also been in PCM gaming for years and years.

Steam isn't 'screwing you'.You just haven't informed yourself on the policies of a service that you use, which is essentially your fault.
And you can get another key, tell your friend to buy it from Steam. All your really paying for is the key anyways.
