Last election, the Conservatives did the exact same thing to me. I was quite annoyed too. Just take it down. There is no point in getting worked up over it. It was probably a mistake.

So the Liberals just put an election sign without my permission
Sorry for this blog post but I don't have a blog and I'm a little angry right now.
I took my dog to the dog park this morning and when I got home I all of a sudden had a Liberal election sign on my property. It apperas that they also tagged my neighbour accross the street. Neither of us were home. Right now I'm fairly angry with them, as they were the last party I was going to vote for. I still undecided I just know it wont be the Liberals. I don't know what gave them the idea they could just plop down signs wherever they want.
Anybody have any signs in Niagara they wouldn't mind having put down infront of the Liberal candidates office?_______________

I'd like to think it was a mitake but I found it odd that the two houses where nobody was home both got a sign. The people across the street are just flipping the house, so they wouldn't even have a phone line to call from.
I'm already over it, I was just very annoyed that somebody thought they had the right to just walk onto my lawn and put down an election sign, having no idea who or what I support.
I don't do anything when realators put signs on my property, but this I find much different._______________

Well, are you on a corner lot? If so, is the sign within 6 feet from the street? The first few feet are city property. If so, and your city allows signs on city property, it was placed properly and legally.

Did you live at this property during the last election? I only ask because in the past political parties have put signs up on properties that had requested them during previous elections without asking and the previous homeowner might have done this in the last election. Even so, it's a little close to the election date for that to be the case. I'd just take it down. Someone could have requested a sign and they wrote down the wrong address. You never know.

yes I do live on a corner lot but as far as I know the city owns the first few feet of everybodies yard, we are just expected to take care of it as if it was our own.
I will also mention that being a corner lot, there are 3 other corners. Two of us got signs, the two that just happen to not be home. The other two lots did not get a sign.
My mom had suggeted the same thing but as you say it's a little late in the game to be placing signs. I mean the election is on Tuesday.Did you live at this property during the last election? I only ask because in the past political parties have put signs up on properties that had requested them during previous elections without asking and the previous homeowner might have done this in the last election. Even so, it's a little close to the election date for that to be the case. I'd just take it down. Someone could have requested a sign and they wrote down the wrong address. You never know.
If I had more energy I'd something creative like posting a larger sign beside the Liberal sign say don't elect, or you suck -> but I'm far too lazy for that. I just took it down instead._______________

Many people sign up for a lawn signs online, and it might be a mistake. Just like for last year's election, I signed up for a lawn sign online but I never received it

Each municipality has their own Election Sign By-Law and all the ones that I looked at, make it clear that you must have the homeowner/occupant's permission before placing a sign on private property. This sign was on private property (the OP's own property - at least from his description it sounds like it is on his property and not city property). If he did not give permission, he is free to take the sign down legally. He's in Niagara Falls, so here's the bylaw that would apply in his case.
