Really contemplating if trading in my Xbox One S 1TB for $140 is worth it. I have a few games sitting around but they’re old so I’ll probably get like $160 total from ebGames. I know I’d get like maybe $250 from Kijiji but I want to avoid the hassle... I don’t even touch my Xbox one.

Is $160 horrible trade in for the Xbox to get the switch? I don’t touch my Xbox anymore at all since I have a PC

If you do the math, with taxes, the trade-in by EB Games comes to $271.20. So comparing to a brand new Switch without trade in, that comes to $452. The difference therefore is $180.80. To come out ahead of the EB games trade-in you need to sell above that. If you can get an easy $250 you're ahead of EB Games by $70.

Keep on the look out for 20% off days at Shoppers Drug Mart. The only issue is knowing which stores have stock. Alternatively, wait until Black Friday for some sort of deal. I got mine during Black Friday last year from Real Canadian Super Store. Basically, $380 for the Mario Kart Deluxe bundle, a free Amazon Echo Dot 3rd gen and 45k PCO points.

You can get the games at SDM as well during a 20x the points which saves you a bit... If you use the points that is. There are also a few auction sites where you can usually save $20 or so on the AAA games but I believe you're looking at near retail prices on eBay. I got Smash Bros and Mario Maker 2 for $55 - $60 through 2nd Turn.

I just bought a Switch (Like 2-3 weeks ago) with a 20x points back at Shoppers Drug Mart along with Mario Odyssey. I think the total was $553.xx and I got back around $140 in points making the switch cost around $327 after tax ($399x15 (normal points) x20 (extra bonus) = $119.70 in points)

You then take those points and spend during another Shoppers Drug mart redemption sale so that if you use $130 in points you are actually getting $160 worth of spending.

I used this as my reasoning as last black Friday I think the best deal was $125 gift card. So getting 20x points back and waiting to use them on games, controllers...etc during a redemption deal is better than that $125 card.
