As for trading, there is nothing like working hard to get As, dealing with the stupid brainteaser interviews. To land on the desk and the first week, your boss looks over and says go pickup Suishi, a good 7 blocks away and make sure you get back in 10 mins cause the traders are hungry.
Why wreck the surprise? The very fact that they ask these questions indicates that they have some desire to succeed and are willing to take some time to get a dose of cruel reality. We might as well give it to them, if they've asked here, then they've probably searched elsewhere. And all companies when recruiting try to paint a pretty picture of how they're so great a company to work for.
Besides, if you think about it, if you're in IB, your bonuses are probably very low right now given the economy. It will be years, if not decades before we see the finance industry in its heyday in 2006 or 2007 (right before the crisis).

I'm not sure lawyer should be in the title.
Being a lawyer isn't a job you apply for off the street. In order to practice law, you have to have a law degree. They don't exactly give those out.

Its definitely a lot easier to get a law degree than to land an articling position with a good firm. OPs advice still applies

That page is perfectly acceptable for someone from RFD asking for advice on IB and other capital market jobs.
The author of leveragedsellout was a consultant who shared a flat with several bankers. He never actually worked as a banker. It, as DaFonz mentioned, is pure satire.

I think you shouldn't assume things about people's backgrounds.
The site and book are extremely entertaining, but should definitely not be used as a guide to break into the industry.
