would i be able to activiate this at my place even if it is registered under someone elses name? i've heard of ppl havin problems gettin rogers to give them programming when they've purchased the HD box privately...

You gotta ask the person selling for the identification # on the digital receiver itself.

You then take that # to rogers and ask them if its a rental or not. If its a rental. They will not let it be activated. Because if it is indeed stolen. A police investigation is sure to be had.
