The pictures above were the closest I could find to what my video card looks like. Those are pictures of the Sapphire version. Mine is an authentic ATI branded board (red circuit board instead of black like the Sapphire) that has had it's original fan and heatsink removed and replaced with a Zalman Fanless Heatpipe. The heatpipe looks the same as the picture except it doesn't have the ugly Sapphire logo stamped on it. The card is fairly old so the original fan, box, and receipt have been lost. Card is in working condition but it's old so it's not as shiny as the picture of the Sapphire. This card is still decent for low resolution 3D gaming and is more than capable of running Windows Vista's new Aero graphical interface. Would work well in an Home Theatre PC box as long as you can fit the card in with the bulky heatpipes.

What are the operating temps ?

Not sure what the maximum temperature is as I haven't used the card for any intensive gaming or 3D. For standard web browsing and normal desktop use the card gets quite warm. You can hold it in your hands but it will be quite toasty. Running any type of 3D demo for a while will get the heatpipes quite hot. You will not be able to keep your finger on the heatpipes without getting burned (at least I haven't tried as it feels quite hot to the touch).

This was one of the last ATI "high end" cards which could run fanless. As long as the case has some sort of airflow it should be fine. Never tried to run it without any airflow, however.
