Some help with programs + my headset.
Googled this for hours and couldn't come up with anything and I don't try to ask for help since usually its available online if you search hard enough.
Anyway the issue is for some reason just in ventrillo when I use my steel series V2 Siberia headset it sounds like static to the point where I can't be understood.
This happened to me once before on an older mic which I tossed out simply because it was old.
Now the confusing part is when I use the headset with skype, teamspeak, mumble etc. It works fine and sounds clear as day. Also I was talking on vent earlier that day and it worked I just afked and left everything as is and came back and this supposedly happened.
Of course I've installed the drivers for the headset but if anyone has some input they wouldn't mind sharing would greatly appreciate it.

Might be your mic boost In window's options.. If that's set to high then It causes static and distortion when you talk Into your mic. If anything It's Vent and just re-install It or something?
Reset computer.. Take It out and plug It back In.. Try a different Mic port If you have etc..

Tried reinstalling. Nothing happened. Mic boost is normal . Tried my back audio slots + keyboard slots. Unplugged and plugged in etc.

Well It's gotta be vent then because If you say everything works fine then that's the problem.. Play around with vent and change some stuff and around and see If It gets fixed.
Like the Input Device and Hardware Input Mixer..

Well thats what really confuses me. Was talking with my buddy last night. Worked fine, then I went to sleep. I never signed off vent/turned off my computer and when he reconnected several hours later (still haven't left the server) it apparently wasn't working properly.

Is It only for your friend or everyone on vent that hears your static? It might be your friends end because how could this start happening when you haven't done anything although he might have In regards to "Special Effects'ing" you on vent and what not.

That's what I thought. Private vent so didn't have anyone to ask at the time. Waiting for a buddy to hop on in a bit to test it with him. Because that's the only real explanation I could think of. Thanks though. Going to see what happens when I test it with a buddy.

The person said they still have both of It. Reason why that person said he sold It because he was a bit drunk.

Sounds like you're using the wrong audio codec from within Vent. Two options, either go into Vent settings and switch the codec, or download Teamspeak3 and win. Goodluck.

Well there you go.. It's that guys end. If that other guy has a Special Effects on you then tell him to remove It, Should fix the problem I would think.

Been using teamspeak. Prefer it to vent any day ;/ but unfortunate circumstances require me to use vent once in a while. Curious where in settings would I be able to tamper with the codec?
edit found the codex. now which one would be the correct one lol or should I just fiddle with them
speex is the one im using atm and i think thats the one that I've always used. Other ones are
GSM 6.10
DSP GROUP TRUE SPEECH
