Some Scammer claiming he's from the Government is back and calling around again...

This has been going on for quite some time, and I already know that he's some punk trying to trick people into verifying their phone numbers from an automated call that they would get soon after the present call from Kijiji's automated system. This is so that he can register multiple Kijiji accounts and post his items for sale to scam people, and then keep doing this over and over and over again under different accounts which are associated with phone numbers from people who got tricked from this low life.

But this idiot is back.

My mom happened to pick up the phone but she isn't much in tune into this sort of thing, but luckily I was working from home today and she gave the phone to me. A guy with a thick Indian accent was talking and as soon as he said that he's calling from the Federal Government to put us onto the DNC list, I immediately remembered about the whole Kijiji crap. I listened to what he had to say for a bit so that I could get his phone number, and then I told him off and he disconnected... :lol:

Just wanted to let you guys know to watch out for this punk. Here is what I was able to get from him before he disconnected:

[B]-His 'name' is Sam (fake name... I know).

-He claimed to be calling from the Federal Government to put people on the DNC list.

-He gave me this really weird phone number: 1-631-240-0077

-He gave me an employee # of: BP57 (which isn't even in the right format as my brother works for the Government).[/B]


I was debating whether to post this up in the Scammers Forum but that forum has more to do with actual scammers on the RFD forums, and not on the rest of the Web/other places.

Also just so that this isn't locked for low content (even though it's informative and is here to help prevent people from getting tricked), ever get this type of call lately?

Wow, that's a new one. Never got that before. Let me guess - They wanted you to provide payment details (i.e. credit card) and SIN number along with your name, etc.?

Its not new. Its posted on the cra website warning people about the scam. Basically they try to get your sin number as well as address to open bogus accounts under your name.
