Chances are strong that Kaushal's insurance won't cover this, as she hit and ran, and was (i believe) criminally charged. That would void the insurance payout. All out of pocket now, plus an insurance cancellation, which would really bump up her premiums.

I remember going to that gym, even did a few group deals here as well over the years, until I started getting "hit on" repeatedly by the wrong crowd, which drew the line (see the personals section on CL if you want to know what I mean, search "Extreme Fitness"). It somehow started getting even worse when Falconhead Capital took over; they even ended the group deal system I had going. The "right" crowd was too distracting for me though, especially the yoga classes!

Wouldn't the BMW driver's insurance have to pay for all the damage?

Maybe Hyundai's only cost is the difference between the insurance payout of the damaged Elantra and their wholesale cost of the new Elantra. For a few thousand dollars, they're getting lots of positive news coverage -- that's a smart business move.

how much insurance money could a 5 year old elantra fetch though? korean cars depreciate notoriously quick unfortunately.

In this case the BMW driver will have to pay for all the cost related to the damage because she is 100% at fault. She is facing stiffer penalties of hit and run which also AUTOMATICALLY makes you 100% at fault even if you are not.

When my fiance's new car 24 hours out of the dealership got hit by a truck in a parking lot, I caught the driver's licence and he drove off after swearing at me was deemed 100% at fault by the police and was later convicted of hit and run.
